Greetings!

It is my understanding that the VCA Edition SRT-10 Coupe program is 100% "go" as of this post. Now this is NOT the raffle and does not involve a Comp Coupe. This is for a very select run of fifty (50) VCA Edition SRT Coupes in Viper Red with Stone White stripes. They also include the new 5-spoke wheels, custom VCA badging, as well as red accents on the seats, steering wheel, shifter and hand brake. Until I get Austin to cough up a nice Photoshop, here is what it may look like from the sides (thanks to SW for borrowing the picture of his car):

You must be registered for see images

Now, here is the kicker: The deadline to submit your name for this drawing is THIS Friday, December 2nd. The drawing itself is to take place on Monday, December 5th. You will then have two weeks to arrange the purchase through your favorite Dodge dealer at the price you negotiate with them. The sticker on this car is $91,990, including the gas guzzler tax and destination fees. You will be able to pick up your new VCA Edition Coupe at a special ceremony at the Barrett-Jackson auction the weekend of January 20-22, 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

To my knowledge very few have received the paperwork necessary to enter this drawing. The other Zone and Regional officers I have spoken with have not, so please don't blame them. As such, we are hosting this paperwork on the Kansas City VCA web site for you:

http://kansascityvca.com/vcacoupe/registrationform.doc
This is the form you will need to print, fill out, and fax in to VCA HQ this week in order to be considered for this car.

http://kansascityvca.com/vcacoupe/programguidesheet.doc
This is the program guideline that shows you what the requirements are for the program and what is expected from you as a buyer.

http://kansascityvca.com/vcacoupe/letter.doc
This is a letter from Steve Wedel, our National President, that outlines the offer and provides some details on the car itself.

Please understand that you have a VERY limited time to submit your name for this drawing. The previous VCA Edition car (yellow/black SRT-10 convertible) was a huge hit. Like that car, this VCA Edition Viper has a special paint and interior scheme that will not be repeated. Rare indeed!

If you have any other questions or comments, please contact VCA Headquarters at (800) 998-1110. This is one fantastic opportunity that is EXCLUSIVE to VCA members. Don't let it slip away...

A New Special Edition!!! Can anyone tell me how many special editions dodge has done. Please do not include the 1998 GT-2. This really is the only special edition. Aren't the coupes selling either? So in a few years everyone will have a Viper Special Edition?

The link says these will be the only ones built this year. Given the rightful uproar over yellow being introduced after the last yellow VCA edition I would bet it will be quite some time before they do this color combo again.

special edition used to mean something.....not anymore.

I agree with you 100% - and I own one of the suspect vehicles (VCA SRT). Vipers have generally had very limited production numbers when it comes to "variations", very few of which came with a plaque to note that fact. While the ACR's did indeed have an interior plaque, it did not have serial numbers or any such thing.

In my very humble opinion, DC marketing decided to take advantage of these numbers by making options appear as Limited Editions - hoping to fire up the SRT-10 market even further. Here are some of the more rare Vipers out there, each produced in numbers less than 200 (the Mamba number):

100 White with blue stripes Commemorative Edition built in 2005
50 Red with white stripes (Coupe) built in 2006 (VCA Editions)

Whew! Now the point is that there are a ton of rare variations which undoubtedly was more hassle for the factory to build. Rather than change every other car to suit an individual order (sapphire with cognac, then red with black, etc.), the factory can produce a run of between 50 and 200 in a row of the same car with the same "options". Make those "special editions" and it should (and has) help move product.

Why? Because everybody likes to have a car that is "limited production" in some respect. The blue RT/10's from 1997 are a hot property now because people realize how rare they really are. Rather than wait until the following year to find out how few or how many of your Viper were made, DC will now tell you well in advance - hoping to appeal to the collector in all of us.

The cool thing about the low volume "unique" combos that are RT/10's or GTS's is that they were unintentional. This, in my opinion makes them even more desirable than a specific alloted low volume run of "special editions"

Of course the 1998 GTS is an exception to this being that it actually comemmorated an acievement of the car rather than just being a limited run just for the sake of making a limited edition.

While all vipers are unique it's rare/oddball combinations that are what will become the most sought after cars regardless of generation. It's too bad that options are so limited on the viper.
