loss of a life is always sad especially in a car accident. you just never know. be sure to tell the people you care about that you love them because it may always be the last chance you get.

This is tough news. I've had the pleasure of chatting with John a few times over the last few years. He was always a part of the Houston area performance car scene. I'd talk with him at dyno days, shows, etc.. I even remember how excited he was when he heard I finally bought a Viper. Good guy, he will be missed.

What a shock this was to read. John is one of the core Houston VCA members that had the determination to stay with the club through good times and bad. He is a current board member that reliably attended events and offered friendly advice. When the Houston VCA club was re-chartered last year, he was ALWAYS supportive and took time to help the new president understand the ropes, always with that Cheshire cat "just ate the canary" mischievous smile of his. I will miss him.
My sincere condolences go to John's family.

We first met John at the Southwest Zone Rendezvous in 2005. A great guy, talented driver, and the biggest financial contributer, having bought the RSI twin turbo package that had been donated. John was also one of the top autocross drivers and drag strip winner at the Rendezvous. He was a very humble guy and really seemed to enjoy himself with all the other Viper owners. Definitely somebody you would remember when you met him.
The Viper world and VCA has lost a true friend. Please keep us apprised of the arrangements so that we can pay our respects.

John Myrick was a class act and I truly valued our friendship. We met for lunch Saturday before last and little did I know it would be our last get together. He will be sorely missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

John was a great guy, and anyone who knew him can attest to the fact that he was a genuie person, and an all around great guy.
I will post up details as I get them. Right now, the tenative plan is to have visitation on Friday from 4-8 in Sugarland. The funeral will be in Cleveland, Texas (north of Houston) on Saturday.

John's been a long time Viper motorsports enthsiast and a great driver. We have been blessed with his patronage and conversationfor many years for his 97 GTS, SRT10 and SRT Ram...An interesting guy to chat with, and a TRUE Viper-nut, right down to his GTS office chair....

My condolences.
That brings me to what happened to me last night. I was urging to take the Viper out just to feel the roar underneath me. It was about 29 deg. I was driving very conservatively, then got onto an on ramp... accelerated slowly, and she came around sideways on me and almost did a 180. Normal acceleration, very conservative driving, and she almost came completely around on me. Nearly hit the guard rail. I have had her for 1.5 yrs and never has anything like that happened. Scared the crap out of my wife.
Although this fine gentleman lost his life in his truck, we must constantly remind ourselves of how dangerous Vipers can be.
And in this case, how dangerous it can be anytime we get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
My prayes go out to him and his family.

I spoke to the director of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland. I asked him to seek JoLyn Myrick's approval for the Viper club to drive our Vipers to the funeral as a tribute to her husband John. The director called back this afternoon and said JoLyn was very happy with this request and that she thought this was indeed a fitting tribute to John and his love of Vipers.
So I am asking all Viper owners to pay their respects to one of their own by driving in a caravan of Vipers to Cleveland to attend the memorial services. If you own a Viper, you are a brother or sister and are invited. Old friends, new friends, strangers, everyone that owns a Viper. John will love this. Life is so fragile and can be taken from us at any moment. It is in the respect we show for others at this time that is a measure of our own character. So let's show our character and send John away to his Viper Paradise with growls of V10s, and more importantly, the warmth of a brother.
We will meet at Country Market Restaurant, 23412 State Hwy 242 (I-59 and 242), New Caney, TX and leave at 2:00PM for a leisurely trip to Cleveland. For those that want to have lunch and visit, meet at 1:00PM.
I will be in my Viper rain or shine. Look forward to seeing you all there.
