I recently received my Valentine One radar detector. These are my questions. How many of you find that you are now driving faster, on average, than you were before you got the detector? I'm talking about the normal cruise, not the "this **** in the Celica won't leave me alone" driving. Also, how many of you didn't get a speeding ticket UNTIL you got the Radar detector? What I've found I like the best, is night driving. I feel a lot more secure knowing that if a cop is stalking me, and I can't see him, the Valentine One finds him.

i find that i drive about the same MPH as i did before i got my radar detector, which is normally about 5-10 over the posted highway speed limit. in the city, i pretty much do the limit. i have a redar detector simply because i just like to know if i am being tracked or not.

quite a few people i have talked to claim that if you have a radar detector in your car and the officer sees it, your chances of getting a warning are much slimmer. this is my opinion as well.

i do know this - my radar detector was a wise investment and has saved me ALOT of money. :D

I bought the Valentine 1, also. It works great for radar if you have a speed trap. I thought I knew the BEEPS now. Last week I was doing about 10 over on a highway South of Anchorage and I heard the 'blipp blipp' real fast, just 2 seconds. Then I saw him sitting on an access road above the highway. He had to be using lazer. If I was going faster I'm sure he would have stopped me. It was so fast I couldn't have slowed down. Just lucky he wanted more than a 10 over. Found out a few of our City cops have lazer. State M/C cops using the radar, too. Be careful til you figure out the detector.:drive:

My Viper came with a Passport SR1 hardwired into the car. It has external sensors on front and back of car. Previous owner probably spent some bucks. I drive the same speeds as I would without it. The detector is a suppliment to keeping my eyes open and knowing the speed traps in the area.

Without radar I drive 12-15 over the speed limit on long hauls. With my V1, I bump it up to 18-22 over.
With the V1 and watching for brake light in front of me, I've been fortunate so far.
