Dave, go be usefull and paint your vents red or something...
Don't have to silly head. Remember? I saved the red ones.
Back to the Vipair.
Whaddup?

i was thinking the same thing. I'd like to see how he got it together. I could just see it in person, if I could get the guy to come out to the trackthis requires more pics
please
I am sure all cars will be different as the dyno will also. Temperatures can cause a big varience as well, but those numbers seem unusually low. My GTS has the smooth tubes and air filter and pulled 424rwhp...?
well now you're making me feel like a big dummy. I bid $90 and got outbid on that oneAmazing that someone just paid $91 on ebay for one when you can buy them brand new on ebay for $59, as that's what and where I paid for mine.
No, actually unless your car is being dyno'd in a wind tunnel, it should be the same as all cars - no improvement. The Vipair is a dynamic device requiring the car to have air movement fore to aft. Like going down the road. Like if your dyno was in a wind tunnel.
A dynamic devise being tested in a static condition is pointless.
I don't disagree with this statement in general, but I think we could all agree that cooler air makes a gas engine run better
That being said, we have two cars with VECs on them. One with a Vipair, one without. Idling in hot temps, the Vipair car is consistently anywhere from 10-20 degrees cooler on the VEC log. To me, this would sort of indicate that a closed hood dyno run could produce slightly better results due to the temp difference.
I'll never know if it's true cause it's just not at all important to me, but theorectically it would seem the cooler air car should produce more power.

Have you ever tried switching the Vipair to the other car and seeing if it too idles cooler with the Vipair installed?
No. Again because it never was too important to know........but now that I've thrown this out there....I'll do it if we ever get another comparable hot day. I would guess that temperature differences should be relative no matter the ambient, but for the purpose of this extremely scientific study, I wouldn't want the test parameters to be too different
This has been a piss poor summer so far up here. Something like 17 degrees below normal hi temps for June I think I heard somewhere. We had one good week of hot and that was it so far. It was borderline turn the furnace on the last couple nights.
The VEC logs under power showed similar temp differentials.
Steve
so does that mean it didn't workIf you're referring to my photo, I don't have any more pics, and it's not on the car anymore
so does that mean it didn't work
that picture makes no sense to me ??
are those dryer hoses pulling in air before the filters?
so your NACA duct was causing a loss in power?
if you were running 4" hoses, what size TBs were you running?
well dang, i may just pick up one of these! Depending on how easy they are to install, i may do a back to back run at the 1/4 mile to see if there are any gains. For anyone who still needs a Vipair™,
Here is an ebay link

That's because his car is red sillyhead.
After reading several pages of this thread I have just one question ... WHAT KIND OF CRAZY-PEOPLE FORUM HAVE I JOINED HERE?
Actually I am a member of the Harley Forum (Gun totin' hard talking 1 percenters), the AC Cobra Forum, (Seat of the Pants rocketing into eternity dudes with no safety features at all), Corvette Forum, (What will our cars be worth $$$ post GM?), and now you guys!
You definitely have taken the prize for sheer fun-seeking rib-poking fellowship among a very small and exclusive group of owners. If this thread shows anything it is that Viper peole are FAMILY!
Do you find the white accents speed it up or slow it down on your car?
