Actually, I already thought of this a few years ago. It's very difficult to get businesses to agree to the advertisements without being able to tell them exactly where and when the car will be driven. I guess they think you're going to park the car and charge them for the ads anyway. Then you have the problem of having to dictate such things to the owners. Viper/Ferrari/Lamborghini owners won't tolerate being told where and when they have to drive their cars, not surprisingly.
Also, I found it very hard to convince people it wasn't some kind of scam. My idea was to do this advertisement and use the money to pay the car payments for the owners. You could basically get a Viper and pay nothing but the down payment, insurance, registration fee and gas. Some people said I was trying to sell them a car, others thought I would end up taking the car from them somehow. One guy tried to convince me that I'd have to buy a wing for his car because I said the car would be a "replica racecar".
It's still a good idea but a few years ago was definitely not the right time. I think 9/11 had struck right as I started looking into it and the entire advertising industry was crashing. Now may be a better time for this idea but e-bay is certainly not the way to do it. They have enough problem with scammers.
