Oh and Chad, the challenge with a "bikini" version is that it isn't always politically correct and some members might take offense - not to mention the folks that own the rights to the Viper logo itself. While it might be popular and sell quite a bit, we have to be careful not to lose members that might consider the club to be sexist. Not to mention possibly ticking off the folks that help make the club such a success: Dodge. That said, I suspect we could broach the subject with both our membership and SRT to see just how controversial it might be. Just remember this: If they decide to shoot the messenger I am pointing at you. :D

Why can't we just do it like the Kansas Calendar project? People upload their own photos then pick and choose which pictures they want to use. That way people who want bikinis and have it and people who don't can choose not to:2tu:

You can do something similiar, just pick your favorite pictures and take them to the local Office depot, Staples, Sams club etc and have them print a $15 calendar.

The challenge is how much time will it take for each person to decide from the thousands of pictures out there, save them to a disc and then take them in? Most Viper people don't have the time for that I would guess. You're talking probably at least 8 + hours of your time. I have over 20,000 viper pictures that I have taken plus all the cool ones on the internet to choose from.

If I remember right the KC club members got a free calendar from the KC project but me and probably others didn't even order one just for the time and so many cool pictures to choose from.

From a cost perspective, I do not think that most in the VCA will have a issue with $20 (I saw what damadge we all did during VOI!!:D And the CAAP store, $30,000 + from us in 3 days:rolaugh:)I am sure as well if we have enough volume, that cost may drop a little as well.

As for doing custom calanders, is it easier to do the Kansas City Project style, or to standardise with one format making printing cheaper?:dunno:

I think a calendar like the Viper Days one that I supply a majority of the pictures for costs about $10k to $15k to create and print. You would want to print like 5,000 or more to get the costs down to like $6 a calendar but then you have to find out who wants to package and mail out 5,000 calendars. It's way cheaper per calander costs but the initial costs is going to be more.

As long as we can find a cooperative printer I think this is VERY doable. I ran it for the KC club and suspect it would be fairly easy for a couple of our volunteers to tackle. I also think that providing "user options" on the photos is possible and could avoid some of the controversy, with the understanding that some photos (risque bikini, family photos, etc.) may not be suitable for the general public. We actually created several "private" calendars for folks that wanted stuff personalized like their kids in the car, etc.

We will not build or buy "canned" calendars - we want them all customizable so that each person can have their own car featured if they prefer. This also avoids any issues of having to pay $10K+ up front - we "pay as we go" based on volumes. So for any of you out there that knows a good printer that can both print and bind a quality calendar, let me know by PM!

On the '09 Cal. page

There's 7 Gen 3 or newer, 2 Gen 1s and 2 GTSs with 2 group pics. Lots of comp coupes.

No seasonal pics and no scenery, though.

Dear Chris,

I formally give you permission for any bad, lewd, crude, obnoxious ideas you bring to the leadership council and Dodge to shake your head and say:

"Damn it, I knew that Aaron was goin' to get me in trouble, this was all his idea!!! The models signing away photo rights for a chance to be voted as a VCA Hottie was just so wrong, but he was so convincing! Then tell then you're gonna double my membership cost as retribution! He just kept mentioning charity and the tears welled up in my eyes...."

Regards,
Aaron

Just as an FYI, the calendar project we did for the site years ago "died" only because the printer we used went belly up. I still have all the pictures, formats, etc. While we could get custom calendars done in a standard 11x17 format (regular 8.5x11 paper double-folded), we wanted to go the extra mile and make them larger - 14x20. Here was the last go round:

Kansas City Viper Club Calendar Project

We still get quite a few requests and have talked to a few other printers about resurrecting the project. The only challenge is that most want $20 per calendar to even consider that size, making them difficult to sell and make much for the club. Nonetheless, if anybody knows of a decent printer I think we can do the rest.

I have a design firm and the resources to produce a Viper Calendar. I can produce the calendar a few different ways. You can have the choice of the following:

1. A standard Calendar with pre-selected photos
2. Custom Calendar: and you get to pick from a library of Viper Images
3. Custom Calendar: you can upload your own images

This is all done on-line through a print portal. The calendar can be set-up with placeholders for the photos. By selecting a placeholder, you can change that image and select from a library of photos, or upload you own. I can add a caption box for owner name, photo credit etc... It's printed in full color with a spiral binding.
Here's a quick example of a style. If there is enough interest I will get a price to produce. The standard calendar would be the cheapest price and the custom would be a few additional dollars.

Photo options. We can try and cover as many generations as possible. We can have members send in their photo submissions and if used they get a free calendar? Do a calendar of just coupes, verts, racing etc... the ideas are limitless!!

rolstar: GREAT concept for the calendar...a picture from a VCA member, a brief description of their car...I'd agree with using all gen cars. You got my support! THANK YOU! ~juli

Yeah man! Now we are talking!:D

I agree with juli, there should be a all gen version. For those who want a specific gen version, they can custom make.

I love the mock up that you made. Looks awesome! Even the logo in the back ground!:2tu:

Count me in for 4-5! Where do I send my order??:D

Robert

P.S. What size is that spiral bound page?

History shows that the VCA (KC?) did a calendar, I think from AVTAR photos here, a while back! Could be an easy resurrect...
-BJ motors did a calendar...bikinis? Dimitrious (and his Gladiators) did one?
-Viper Days does a calendar, which PartsRack has indeed helped sponsor
-Currently, NORCAL VCA has a GREAT 18-mos calendar available, which we also help sponsor....
-Ill bet TOM ROELLER could do a GREAT one![/quote]

....Jon B, How did I not know you would know where to get this!......... :dunno::smirk::confused::2tu:

One day the VCA will have an HISTORIAN and maybe Ill be able to help them!

As predicted, "Rolstar has a better idea"

I bet Viper Magazine could also have a generic 18 mo calendar out inside of 60 days. As TedH stated, Mark G. has some awesome "CENTERFOLD" and other photography.....and the print quality of ViperMag is certainly calendar-worthy. Any resulting individual pages could also be done as posters!

Personally, I find the 11x17 as too large, especially for any resulting FRAMED photos.
Anyone remember the old DIAMONDS OF THE ROAD calendars? All months were suitable for framing.......the Green RT/10 on the golfing green was AWESOME!
