Got a new tune installed on it took it for a drive, was running amazing then I let it rev out in first gear slammed it into second and griiiiiiiind........ I talked to chuck tator today and he thinks it was or is a axel, but we think it's in the tranny.... So far what. We know Is car jacked up in gear tires don't spin let clutch out and all you can hear is a grinding noise
Really really loud, clutch goes in and out like normal but car seems like its sticking in gear now to.. Let down on the floor and put in gear let clutch out sometimes it will try and move a bit then kicks out and starts grinding... Then other times you let clutch out and no movement just bad grinding coming right under neath the tranny are... Tommorow we will jack it up and take the big plate of and see more and prob have to take tranny out does the same in all gears too...
What does it sound like to you guys??

Oh that *****!!! I just went through this as well doing a pull at 14psi on the highway in 3rd gear. It destroyed the input shaft gear and driven cluster gear. If that is what happened to you, 4th gear should still move your car as it doesn't rely on ANY gears in the transmission, it just couples the input shaft directly with the output shaft via the synchro hub.

If you're still around stock HP, you may just want to grab another stocker. GForce does offer better gears and a billet front plate if you want to rebuild yours.

Definately wasnt caused by the tune ;) ... I was thinking you would be pushing a ton of horsepower to do that to your transmission , wouldnt the rearend usually go first?

Do you have super sticky tires?

Maybe its the clutch, are you on the stock clutch? ------

Agree completely.....you can have the stocker rebuilt for 800 bucks. The G-Force trans is very good (has lasted 2 seasons in my car) but is pricey at $7K. You don't need it unless you're pushing bigger-than-stock HP.

Ive had that happen with a T5 Gearbox in my old cobra, I was doing 90mph at the time when the 5th Gear shredded! The rear locked up and the car span twice! I was 30 miles outside of Le mans :( That was a time for new underpants :doh2:

yap got the tranny out today and i poped of front cover sure enough mine looks the same as yours in the pic!!! The input shaft is all one piece with gear on it, my buddy has a xtra tranny and the bottom gear is perfect, just looking for a input shaft now!! It shouldnt matter if i use his gear and a input shaft out of another one.. The teeth will wear correct when both are installed and run a bit right!!!

I'm sure they don't recommend mixing and matching used gear sets, but I would put it together and give it a try.

I've been looking for a source of used transmission parts, but I have been unable to find any.

Good luck!

Dang, and mine still has the stock tranny in it. It's held up fine for years though.

If you need any advice or upgrade recommendations,
Bernie at Competition Transmission Services can help :)

He is in the UK but advice is free :)

Viper Baz UK has used them to upgrade his Viper transmission, (running a Roe Supercharger), I used them for rebuilding my T5 box. Great friendly service :1up:
