How much are you asking for the first generation Viper? What is the color? I know that you want full cash/money, but individuals who offer to trade can be just as serious as someone who wants to fully purchase your car.

It's a late model Gen I. Not quite a sought after 92, and just shy of the exquisite 96. I'll trade you an almost new zero turn lawn mower for it.

I would like to sell the 1st Gen to get a 2016/17 viper, that's the reason, Price for 1st Gen. I have seen them as low as 29- high 55 , I am priced asking 38,900

a little high, so make a offer! People always undercut you, they want something for nothing. This car is also stamped " last 300 side exhaust. as far as mileage, 28,000

for a 21 yr old car!!! I love to drive the car Not look at it in the garage, give me a break!!! I did not buy it to leave it parked. Keep your zero circle mower, or boat,

I' can't afford two Vipers, so why not go for a 2016. Have a great day all, Make a solid reasonable Offer and we can talk again.

Look around on sites like Ebay and Autotrader. Your price is at least $5K too high vs other gen 1s. Why would they negotiate with you when then can just go buy a cheaper one (if the conditon is the same). You may sell it at your asking price, but it'll take a while. In the Viper world 1 of 300 is not very unique. GLWS

I hate to break it to you, but a 1996-2000 Viper GTS can be typically bought for between $33,000 to $40,000. However, savvy individuals who desire Vipers can find excellent deals if one looks in the correct places.

My son purchased a 1997 Red Viper GTS:
- 30,000 miles
- Borla Exhaust
- Edelbrock Headers
- Cammed up so that it is pushing over 500 horse power
- Viper ACR Suspension and shocks
- Modern stereo system with brand new speakers and AMP
- The car used to be owned by a corporation out of New York City
- No previously bad history

This car was purchased for $25,000. You are trying to sell a Generation I Viper for $38,000? No offense, but Viper owners and Viper buyers are not the type to try to "steal" your car away nor are they trying to pay nothing for your Viper. Simply put, a Generation I, in the year 2016, is not worth the price you are asking for unless it is a special edition. You are simply asking way too much for that caliber of car.

I just purchased a red 2005 SRT-10 with 25,000 miles for only $26,000.

A close friend of mine purchased a 2000 Red Dodge Viper ACR for $23,000 that needed carbon-fiber work on the back near the driver's tail light. He did the work himself, and it has been restored back to factory specifications and quality.

Consider the information above as you price your Generation I Viper.

the price is too high. 39k will buy you Gen2 or Gen3 for that matter. I personally think the high 20s to low 30s is the starting point.

Based on my experiences and those who have also posted in this thread, I would suggest that you price your Viper at $30,000 (in the case that it is in a near perfect condition with low miles), and then expect to actually sell it for around $28,000. I hate to break it to you, but in the current year, your car is not worth the price you are asking for; your car is not even valued anywhere near the price that you are asking for. It may not be the answer that you want to read, but I swear to you that I am giving you the best advice. If you cannot afford to let the Viper go for that price, then I would suggest that you sit on the Viper with your current price without the expectation of selling the car; someone will make a serious offer for your car whenever you least expect it, so just keep the car, enjoy the car, and use the car until you get the offer that you can accept.

If your car is in very nice shape, contact senior Executives at Dodge and explain how nice your car is, and also explain how it is stamped as being one of the last 300 that were made of the first generation. By doing this, a senior-level Dodge executive may want to purchase your car for nostalgia or preservation purposes. Who knows, Dodge may offer to take it from you to put into a museum.

You can also try selling your Viper at collector car auctions; I would not suggest Barrett Jackson or Mecum simply because of the exorbitant seller's fee in the event that your car sells. If you sell the car for $30,000, you would be expected to (usually) pay a ten percent seller's fee, which would be three thousand dollars.

I am in the car business, and I have been in the car business since the early 1970's. I am not trying to "low-ball" you, nor am I trying to frustrate you. However, I have enough sense to know that I cannot sell a 1996 Toyota Camry for $18,000.

We all have an idea of what we would sell our beloved vipers for. When it is all said and done let him sell
his viper for what he wants to.

I just wanted to answer the original poster's question regarding why he has not received any bites on his car for sale. He can price it for whatever he likes, and he can wait for offers to come in; please see my post above regarding the different strategies that he could use to sell his car. I think he wants too much out of it, but if he does not want to budge on the price, I made sure to give a myriad of different strategies that he could use to maximize his profits on the car.

Thanks for the feed back all, I'll sit on the car if I have too, No Problem, I agree comparing a Viper to a Toyota Camry, WOW a $60,000 car in 1995 only made 1418 for USA sales Hand Built!!!

, compared to tens of thousands Toyotas Ouch!! anyway I did lower the price to $34,000 FIRM everything I did to the car Stripes, wrap etc can be taken Off without damage to go Back

to total OEM, NOT many 1st Generations Out there. Everyone who sees the car says they like the look, never had any negative feedback. Only from those on the forum.

Anyway if it sells it sells, if not I will continue to enjoy the car for years to come.

Hyperbole, folks. Hyperbole. Again, if one wants to re-read my posts, I offered many suggestions on how he can sell his car; I gave suggestions when everyone else simply stated that his Viper was priced too much.

I offered prices for other Vipers for comparison purposes, I gave a variety of suggestions in the case that he wants to keep the car at the same price, drop the price, or wants to wait until the right offer comes along.

Much like the same user who suggested that he would trade his lawn mower for the Viper, I can assume that he and I were using our metaphorical examples as a form of light humor.

Sometimes you just need to know the answer expected before you can answer this type of question. With that, the only real answer would come from those that passed on your deal, getting them to comment may be its own difficult challenge.

Viper owners are their worst enemy. We want our cars to be worth something, but then others decide what
you should pay. No wonder no more Vipers are going to be built, Why build a car that even the owners think
is too expensive. I have said it for a while now. The Viper is the new Neon. Great car but not worth anything.

The great aspect of being a Viper owner is that they are all unique, and are all special to their owners. It should not matter what others think, and it should not make any difference other than what the owner thinks. While others will disagree with the opinion of the owner, it does not matter. If we want to sell a Viper, we are allowed to price it for however much that we choose. If no one makes an offer, so be it. If you sit on your Viper long enough, even if it is 20 or 30 years after you want to sell it, someone will eventually pay the price that is being asked.

Personally I would sit on it and wait another 5 yrs and see where value goes at auctions....if its paid for....it doesnt cost much to keep it....

I bought my 98 gts for MUCH less than ur asking....and I think we are at the end of the window where the value will stay down.....I think eventually the values for clean title vipers will go up. (5-10yrs)

Had you not mentioned you were in the car business since "the early 70's", you might have pulled off the Camry joke. That's a long time to be in the car biz, long enough to evolve from Imp...to demon...and finally where you are today: Satan.

Again, hyperbole. Definitely hyperbole; the same as the almost zero-turn lawnmower joke.

Twelve posts in and you cracked the code.

Actually, please refer earlier within this thread whenever I spoke about hyperbole, and I even mentioned that your comment was a joke too. Thank you, sir. If both of our statements were not meant as a joke, I would much sooner take offense to trading a lawn mower to a Viper than comparing one to a Camry. Furthermore, you even told the original poster that his car was not "sought after", which is more insulting than anything I said.

For the third time, hyperbole. You and I have both engaged in hyperbole, but the only difference between you and me is that I offered the original poster with five different strategies to help him sell his car. You may continue to refer my posts using any adjectives that you choose to use, but it does not change the fact that I legitimately want to help the original owner sell his car for what he would like.

This forum has been fantastic thus far, but you like to dish it out (lawnmower joke and refer to a car as not being sought after), but you do not like it when others dish it out (Camry joke). Simply put, you're a bully, which is fine.

Now, I assume that you will want the "last word" since you seem the type, so I will let you have the "last word", and I will stop responding to your vitriolic posts that are intended to paint me as the villain. Please, humor me, and humor others who come to this thread so that they can see how much of a comic genius you are. Also, continue to attack me on an internet message board so that the Viper community can see how you "stand up for them" and how "clever" you are whenever you want to "protect" another Viper owner from seeing Camry jokes. You're a real tough guy, buddy. Real tough.

Original poster, I apologize if you were offended by my Camry joke, but I cannot apologize for the lawnmower joke nor can I unequivocally confirm whether or not your car is not "sought" after. However, I did want to send the prices and specifications for the Vipers in my immediate area so that you can get an idea of what different generation Vipers are selling for in the current market. I want you to maximize the amount profit you gain from selling your car so that you can get the newest generation of Viper, but I still want you to make a profit; it is just difficult to make a profit if you are trying to sell a generation one Viper for the current price when newer models are bringing much less. I do agree with another poster, however, that we are nearing the end of the "downswing" of Viper resale value. With Dodge ending the production of the Viper and our cars nearing 25+ years in age, their value will steadily increase. I have no doubt in my mind that your Viper could be showcased on Barrett Jackson or Mecum in another twenty years since it will be an extremely rare car at that time. While there may be bullies in this thread saying that your car is not "sought" after, I promise that your car will be HIGHLY desirable if you want to give it another five to ten years before you try to sell it. Whatever you choose to do, please consider some of the strategies that I provided in an earlier post since I know others who have owned different cars who employed the same methods with great success. You have many options at your fingertips, and you also have time on your side.

As another option, I am not sure where you are from (original poster), but you could bring your car down to the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee Car show where there are tens of thousands of cars sitting on the side of the road. Most cars sitting on the road are for sale, and people come from all over the world, bring cash, and buy/swap cars for an entire week. These people are willing to pay good money for vehicles, and they are able to pay without any delay in time. I, along with my friends, have sold many cars at the show, and we have always came out ahead with more money than we had in the original cars. To make matters even more on your side, I only saw ONE Dodge Viper at the entire show in the spring; it was a black generation three SRT-10 that was not for sale. If you were to bring your car down to the show, you would definitely be one of the only individuals with a Viper. That fact will increase the immediate value of your car in the context of the show itself. Even if you did not sell your car, you would have a fantastic time in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee while enjoying your cars with other car enthusiasts. The dates of around September 7th to September 17th - two weeks of a nonstop car show. I highly recommend that you check it out.

Viper owners are their worst enemy. We want our cars to be worth s
omething, but then others decide what you should pay.

In 'our' defense though, in all the years Ive been part of the viper
community we've ALWAYS told people never to buy a Viper as an
investment. You'll never get what you think its worth out of it.

The Playstation Generation is coming into their own now where
its more important that the car do all the actual work and the
driver just sorta point it at something. Look at the new GTRs and
Vettes, hell the Teslas will actually drive the car for you. Our
antiquated Motor-stick-wheel setups might as well be Model-Ts
for the upcoming race crowd. Our babies are becoming an
aquired taste...

To the OP, Im sorry but I just looked at a 94 and 96 ($19,000,
and $17,000 respectively) and theyre still for sale. Personally I
think itll sell for $34k, but you may have to wait for the perfect
buyer. Advertise as much as possible! Good luck!

To the OP:
When I offered to trade my zero turn lawnmower for your Viper, I was in NO WAY saying your Viper was of comparable worth. I was merely making an offer that I thought could be beneficial for the survival of me and my family.
