I was replacing hood screens and lost a screw in the hood. Anybody have any ideas on how to retrieve it?

Thanks

 Hahahah, Man I did the same thing over 2 months ago and I still haven't been able to fish it out. I was hoping I wasn't the only goof ball to have done this. I tried a small magnet connected to a coat hanger w/dismal results. I don't want to remove the hood...that would stink. Let's hope some one else has a simpler method.

Please help us,
George

I was afraid to remove the hood to do a belt change but it is EASY. 4 nuts & 2 people, I did it with my wife. Adjustment does not change when you remove it so there is no way to get it back on wrong or crooked. REAL EASY.

You can take it off & put back on in less than 5 minutes.

A very strong magnet wrapped in cloth. If screw is at bottom of hood when hood is tilted up, move magnet around until you hear screw catch to magnet. Then slowly drag magnet towards drain hole at bottom of hood.

I must be missing something.....Where in the hood can you possibly lose a screw? Did it fall into the motor or what?

Take a look at the way the two screens are attached, and imagine the possibilty of a loosened screw falling between the hood layers. Its happened to me - I just left it in there.

Another way of getting the screws out involves remove the hood and, with a couple of friends, shaking the #%#^^#^% screw out. You might have to do that if the magnet doesn't work.

Update

Very good idea Ulysses bought a strong magnet on ebay and it worked. I wrapped it with a piece of cloth and retrieved both screws in the hood.
