Ok I've had input from several people with cars that fit the Mod 2 format.
Ground Rules: This class is designed for the group of Vipers with a streetable power adder or modified all motor. Cars who have generally not yet produced a 9 sec ET. We can only have one heads up class, if more people attend these events we will certainly expand. We also offer a dial in class with a cash purse for cars not fitting this format.

All cars must be street registered and insured in your home state.
Cars limited to privateers. Meaning no tuner's shop test cars. Final decision with be that of the OHIO VCA.

Cars must be production Vipers with V10, T-56 Six speed trans (No clutchless Trans), Production Viper rear end with stock suspension. ie. No solid axle rear ends, automatic transmissions or other competition transmission.

Bodies must be of stock materials, Windows must be factory glass, must have full interior. ie. No Gutting or lightweight panels.

Wheels can be aftermarket. Tires can be slicks and skinnies.

Engine Mods limited to ONE Power ADDER. One stage of NOS, or ONE blower or turbo.
NOS systems must deliver via throttle body plates or a dry injection. NO Port Injection. Must have stock intake manifold.
Blowers from Roe, Heffner or Levin are apporved.
Turbo? contact us.
All Motor; any bolt on or interal modifications. (Aftermarket or fabricated intakes OK)

Tech will be conducted by the OHIO VCA. Norwalk is an IHRA track. They are very liberal roll bar rules.

Ohio VCA will have Final approval of any participant in the Fast 8.
The fastest 8 during a timed run Friday Sept 12 or the morning of Sat Sept 13 will be eligible for the Heads Up shoot out. Ohio VCA reserves the option to expand the field beyond 8 cars based on car count and performance level.

The Fastest 8 cars will compete, heads up/full tree on Saturday afternoon. The Fast 8 will round robin until a winner is determined. Pairing will be developed on Sportsman ladder. ie. 1 races 5, 2 races 6 etc.

The purse is $1000 to win, $250 RU. Plus contingencies.
All participants are then eligible to compete in the dial program with all other vipers. Purse $500 to win, $250 RU. Plus contingencies (So far PartsPack donated two rear 18" tires for the quickest et on real street tires and two $100 gift certificates)
This event will also feature a Viper car show with trophies, entrants can attend Tower Suite hospitality, 40x80 tent in a private pit area for Vipers and the Dream Car Garage dinner Sat night. (We need to know a count on dinner, it's steak and lobster) All courtesy of the Ohio VCA and Clavin Smith!!!!

OK pleeeeaze give me constructive comments on the format described. This is all we can do until we get people willing to race, not just complain.
Thanks call me with any questions or concerns. 330 644 4459.

Pre register at classicevents.com It's only $65.

Count me in.....Maybe some of us in Mod 2 will get faster and run with the 'Big Boys' in Unlimited class someday....until then we will run in our proper class. Pauls has worked very hard to get this event off the ground. I am sure all classes of drag racers...Unlimited, Mod2, Mod1, Stock, etc are looking forward to getting the drag racing series started Nation wide.

Tom, one of your customers will be representing your camp. Now we need some more NOS guys that fit the format. If we get a good car count with this class we'll move on to another heads up class next year.
REMEMBER rdustman and others. Everyone can run the dial class. It is the great equalizer of all cars. We have special awards within the dial class. Every Viper owner needs a time slip!!!

David save that 9 sec pass for Norwalk. This will be the track and the weather to lay down great numbers.
Who will be the first SC car in the nines??

Mod 2 say's no direct port nitros, how about the unlimited or no direct port period? I have been told that the better system, the safe system was direct port. I do not see anything wrong with a direct port system. Is their a reason for not wanting direct port vs TB injection system? The cost of the 2 systems are not that far off.

jk, The rules were developed to attract true Mod 2 type cars. We want to separate the Mod 2 cars from unlimited cars. The rules have been cloudy between what a Mod 2 car is vs an Unlimited. The previous determining factor has been a single stage of NOS.
Direct Port Injection is far superior to the bolt on systems. The current unlimited cars that attend events use this system. We just want to assure the true Mod 2 competitors that unlimited cars will not be classified with them. Banning Direct Port Injection appeared to be a universal way to do that. If your interested in coming to the event, contact me and we can discuss your modifications.

ONCE AGAIN WE MEAN NO OFFENCE TO UNLIMITED RACERS!!! There just are not enough cars to fill a field in Ohio. We want the rules clear to establish an equal performance potential. I'm sure I've overlooked some combination, but we'll deal with these as they arise.

I agree w/ what you are doing. Someone needed to define a mod 2 vs the unlimited. As I understand then, direct port runs unlimited as it should. ( 9 sec. cars run unlimited also). To cut the pie even closer maybe you can expand to a mod 3 or 2 classes of unlimited either way Mod 2 sounds good the way you have it.

jk, I feel we can only try to support ONE Heads Up class this year. Tom, David and others have been discussing a class system for a Viper Racing Series. As we progress hopefully there will be the needed car count to support multi classes. I've promoted or attended near every major drag event for four years. The Texas guys seem to do the best job and probably because most of the serious cars are there. But this year instead of having even three classes with only a few cars, we have decided to focus on a heads up class that can attract the most potential in modified cars. Hence, this Mod 2 format. I can please everyone, but I can try to offer a format for a majority.

Paul,

Obviously no matter what format you decide to use, people won't show because they will feel slighted or singled out. God willing we'll be there even if the deck isn't stacked in our favor because it's FUN and we'll have a good time regardless. Keep up the good work!

Guys this is the format, bring on the cars!!!

That said I can stage any kind of grudge match or gamblers race, So if anyone not fitting the format (Mod 2) who would be limited to the dial race wants to duke it out. We'll fix you up in a special Heads Up Format.
