I am sure quite a few folks know I am one happy camper, and Chris has stated the main concern so many of you brought up years ago is over ----liquor laws have changed . Heck the old rules were kinda fun ( buy a $5 membership and invite your friends into the bar, whether there were 2 of them or 50 ) and really were not a burden.

Long time members will realize that when we show up in Salt Lake "WE" will be the Convention!!! Similar to events in Nashville and St. Louis, the town will turn out for us, we will be staying at Hotels that are right next to each other, we have a super safe race track that was even designed around Vipers ( ask Mr. Wilson if you don't believe me ) and beautiful drives in the Rockies are right at our doorstep.

With Miller being able to split into two seperate road courses , there is no reason Viperholics can not get tons of track time and this course is a riot. With Bonneville down the road , and NHRA Drag strip nearby, how in the heck can a speed freak not be pumped. Getting to watch a World Challenge Race, along with Viper Days races, this should be Nirvana for alot of folks.

........and this time, when you go somewhere( example -- bar ) , you will be able to find your friends, as this will be the days " Vipers Take over Salt Lake City!"

Thanks VCA and officers for listening to all your loyal members and friends!:2tu:

This is fantastic! I'm really looking forward to going to my first VOI! I love the access to all the driving events - auto-X, track, Karts, scenic drives - and the races! Whooo Hooo! :headbang:

Cool... How much do you all think it would cost to trailer from NC to this and back?
probably about 10% of the entire value, of a SRT Coupe..:(

Nah! Not that bad. I drove through SLC on my way to the Western Zone Rendezvous in Vegas in March. The round trip was 2500 miles for me, which was about $600 in diesel. I borrowed a trailer (thanks James!), and with two nights at Hampton Inn, still came in about $850 for the trip part. If you've got a truck and access to a trailer, you could do it for $2000. :D I don't know about you, but I'm planning on going through that much in tire rubber alone! :burnout:

Yes, there are gas stations in Moab, Utah. My brother lives in Telluride Colorado and I kind of zig-zag my way though there when I visit him on the way between Arizona and Washington State.

SLC is a beautiful city and the viper owners will have a great time.

Chris, as usual I am in and maybe I will take a week off and see my sister in KC and let you help drive my ACR to SLC.

I cant wait! Maybe we can get a fast pass cruise. That would be alot of fun. If you need help with cruises, catered lunches, venues, or logistics let me know.

They have a fast pass cruise every year that is escorted by the highway patrol with some areas where speed limits are unlimited.

Although my wife and I had looked forward to our 1st VOI and planned on going, that just sealed the deal.

Thanks for a great venue Chris! MMP is said to be the best track in the US. I've never been there but I can't wait to drive it!

Western Canada, Oregon and Washington Regions should get ready. It's a simple two day drive, with an overnight somewhere around Boise. I'm thinking it's going to be a big turnout!:usa:

Thanks VCA officers and friends that worked on this!:headbang:

I'll be looking forward to meeting many more Viper friends again at this VOI.

Searching bing I found this to be the #1 point of interest for SLC - "The Mormon Church is the center of the city."

One thing that should be of interest to some of us is that Utah and Colorado have laws against Radar jammers. USA Laser Jammer Laws - Guys of LIDAR

I didn't see the costs and have no idea what a class #3 misdemeanor means, but I'd need to removed my dash to disconnect my laser jammers. Nowhere else has a problem that I'll be travelling through so I hope calss #3 is a small fine?

BC has no laws on detectors. Washington is overcrowded with radar cars and during the day expect a radar 'hit' every 10 miles or so. Radar every two miles late at night.

1800+ miles for my trip to SLC

If you've got the Passport 9500ci (the fully integrated multi-piece system), it has a menu selection to turn off laser jamming. Much easier than dashboard removal, and safer than a ticket!

And believe it or not, despite the "melodius tune" your radar detector will play traveling down Washington highways, most of our departments have switched to laser already! Fortunately, laser jammers are not illegal here....yet!

We'll definitely have to put together a couple of routes....and organize a river of snakes going into SLC!

First time I drove from Reno to SLC, I was amazed that FedEx trucks towing triples were doing 80 plus mph....never saw one hiway patrol car all the way across the salt flats. According to my GPS, my moving average was 86 mph in my F350 for a 200 mile stretch.

Unless you're going to be breaking triple digits, I wouldn't worry too much about the radar when semi's are going 10 mph over the 75 mph speed limit.

It would be a very cool sight to see an endless line of Vipers emerge from the heat waves shimmering off the interstate as you drive through the salt flats.

Cheers,
George

WOW......

Finally got a chance to read this entire thread. Looks incredible. Plenty to do no matter what type of driving event you prefer. Looks like the trailer will be full of several different sets of tires....

Thanks Chris and all the officers. It's obvious you have spent a lot of time on this...:2tu:

Seems to me the Grand Daddy's of NHRA role into town sometime around then too. I thought that is when I saw all the Top Fuelers Trucks rolling through, on one of my work trips to the mines in NV.

Will a visit to the Bonneville Salt Flats be one of the cruise destinations? I think that it would be fantastic to visit the spot where all of the speed records have been set. The Stryker Twin Turbo Viper hit 247mph in 2001.

I certainly will be there if there is any actual track time ! I most likely would make the trip anyway since it is close enough, and I've never been there before.

What do we know about the NARRA event ? Just the racers, or maybe some fun for some of us pretenders?

Another Member wanting to know if VOI costs will include track time at MMP or if separate payment to NARRA will be necessary? How much track time will we get?
