Hello All:

I recently posted a topic on a coolant leak I was having (and thanks for all the responses). In order to better work on my Viper in the future I ordered a 1994 Viper RT/10 Service Manual on e-bay as seen at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1856689698

That looks like the right thing, right.... a service manual??? Well I got it and it is the cover to a service manual, but inside it is really just a parts catalog, and even says Parts catalog at the top of each page. What gives? Does that sound right, or did I get ripped off?

Further, it looks like it has been photocopied and rebound. Are Chrysler's service manuals reprited and bound with a wire band or are they like a real bound book?

Also suspect, the 3 holes punched (3 ring binder) in the picture. The Service Manual does not have holes punched in it.

If you get it from the link that Chuck has above, it is a REAL service manual and only $60 (VCA member discount). The fellow on Ebay is selling the photocopies of the parts manual Illegally. Chrysler legal knows about him. HE IS A CROOK. If I were you, I would contact Ebay about him. The parts manuals are around $35 from Chrysler..... For $60, you can get a new bound service manual from Chrysler.

I would try to get your money back as his description is very misleading, this is not a "Service Manual", it is a parts manual.... not a "shop manual" either (as he claims).

All this guy likely did is print out the on-line parts manual that Chrysler had post on their site a few months ago, I'd bet if you ask, many on this site (including me) likely downloaded it. I'm working with Chrysler to get permission to "host" these PDF formatted manuals so rip-off artists like the EBAY thief no longer have a market.

I contacted him about selling illegal copies of copyrighted material, his reply was "So what"...........

I love Ebay's feedback system, his feedback speaks for itself:

Jay Herbert---you are right. I researched this user a little further on e-bay. This user (1963lincoln) sells a lot of "service manuals"...and presumably all illegally copied. He or she has only 8 negative feedbacks, but in each case insults the people filing negative complaints. What a character.

More power to you for contacting Chrysler legal department. This is totally unscrupulous behavior. He is making money by violating copyright laws (in some cases). In some cases he claims he has permission to reprint the manual. However, I doubt he has permission to reprint the Viper manual since it is still copyrighted and Chrysler is stil selling it for $98 after tax and shipping.

Wish I had known about the $60 copy after VCA discount....

Thanks for the tip off on this e-bayer.

I checked that site out. It's a cool concept to have all the info on-line including access to TSBs, but it $24.95/year. So its subscription based, rather than a one time purchase. Also, its easier to take a book out in the garage with you than have to print material each time and take with. Just a personal preference, I guess.
