Viper Wizzard, Why Does a Gen I Out Torque a Gen II?

Calling out to the wizzard to help me with why a Gen I's torquier than a Gen II. People are beating me up saying this isn't true. But I know from your car on a roll and a friend's Gen I with only Belanger headers, the torque launch factor is greater. Need your technical prowess to explain.

I know I wasn't beating you up,
I have always just thought that the difference in sound changes perception of speed.
My example was the muscle car that sounds really nasty but just runs lack luster. I thought the Gen I with the side exhaust and open roof made the sound louder/faster!

If it's true that the Gen I has more torque than the Gen II then the explaination is simple. The Gen I has more backpressure from the headers and exhaust than the Gen II. Backpressure is a key to torque because it allows some amount of raw air/fuel mix to remain in the cylinder for the next cycle. This gives the little extra torque you may feel as opposed to the Gen II's less restrictive exhaust system. A completely free-flowing exhaust system allows for more unspent air/fuel to escape after the initial combustion cycle.
