I'M JUST FULL OF GOOD NEWS TODAY,LOL. :D

At the American Super Car Challenge I was able to have a heads up race with VIPERJOHN.

NOW THE FULL STORY, LOL.

The heads up race was not planned. We were running qualifying runs for the Vette/Viper
Shootout. We were made to run Pro Lights meaning - stage/yellow/green. NOT EASY
TO DO. Anyhow John and I get staged for the race. Well tree starts and I leave
John sitting at the line, at this point I'm LMFAO. I beat him off the line by more
then 1/2 second. Now the good part. I'm so excited slamming the gas as far to the
floor as possible I start spinning the tires. Now I'm trying to get my thoughts
back together and get the car to stick, all the while VIPERJOHN'S coming like a
bat out of ......My 60' turns into a 2.213 (my worst of the day). By the time I
get traction its way to late, he doesn't just go by me, HE'S FRICKEN FLYING by me.
All I could see when he was next to me was a BIG SET OF TEETH, LIKE THIS :D .LHFAO
Well I know his tag now and the nice paint work on his rear bumber. It was a ton
of fun and WAY TO GO JOHN, you have bragging rights till we run again. A good day
was had by all. :2tu:

We need the support of some TT, SC or Nitrous cars. Want to test all that power, put it to the street/track. :2tu:
Nice Job John, looking forward to seeing you get the most out of your cars potential

I would rather have seen that then the Ranger thing! Dang business covention I had to go to. And John, 11.8 not too shabby! Especially as I know you were not planning on powershifting.
:2tu: :headbang:

Congratulations Tom on your representation of the Viper community. You really stepped up.

First off, I am by no means an experienced drag racer. I have at most a grand total of 20 runs in my life, about 6 of them came ten years ago in my Trans Am, I made some runs last year at the Zone Rendezvous in NJ, and two runs a month ago (met Tom for a test and tune).

My side of the story:

Tom and I had some discussions regarding what type of tree we would be getting at the track. On all previous runs we were given a standard tree(?), incrementing yellow then green.

Before this run I overheard they were going to be using a "Pro" tree. I asked Tom about it, and he told me that a "Pro" tree is the one they had been giving us. Needless to say when we coincidentally lined up, I was waiting for a standard tree.

So there we are all lined up and before I know it, I see all three yellows light up and a quick green. I was puzzled for a brief second (make that 1/2 a second) and I see Tom tearin' down the track.

I was like "[******]??, he tricked me on the tree type!" So I nailed it and got a pretty decent start. Before I know it I am catching him. The best visualization I can give is that it was like a tossing out a line with a fishing pole and reeling in your catch.

As I roll up on Tom, I look over at him and it appears he is rolling his hips, jumping up and down in his seat trying to get any extra "umph" out of is car. By that time, I had too much momentum, it was over.

For the record, I tried powershifting on one run last year. I hit the rev limiter when going from 3rd to 4th. My car bucked and jumped to the right about half the width of my car. When it happened, I damn near did a burn out in my pants, if you know what I mean. I thought for sure I broke a half shaft or something, I coasted to the finish in neutral.

After watching video, it appears the engine hit the rev limiter the same time I engaged 4th, thus making the car ****. Since then I have officially retired from powershifting, and I am DAMN proud of it!

Kudos to Tom for all he did setting up for this event. We had designated parking, a generator, water, sodas, potato chips and some great sandwiches. Thanks again Tom!

Now dont let John go and sucker you all in, proof is on the slip. :2tu:
Really it was the race I had the most fun in all day. (Because it was fun) No
pressure just fun racing your buddy. For John to run a 11.827 I think is fantastic.
His car has a ton of HP which makes it even harder to control. Given time I think
we'll see John post some times we all might be shooting for, HE CAN DRIVE. :headbang:
Now with that being said, John I look forward to racing with you again. The more
experience you get the harder its going to be to whip ya, even though we all know
you like the whip. :D Congrats also to your first event as club VP and A
very successful one at that. (GOOD JOB)

I only regret not understanding the tree. I was eliminated in my race by 0.1391 of a second, even though I ran a 11.73 ET to the Vettes 12.022 ET. He beat my reaction time by 0.424, which gave him the win. :(
