Vipers Roar Into One of the Largest Car Events in the Midwest (And The Most Beautiful Location)!
June 25-28th, 2008

Vipers will roll into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, to one of the most beautiful areas of the Midwest, and take part of an automotive spectacle that happens once a year! “Vipers Invade Mackinac” is an event put together by the IL VCA in conjunction with the MCVO Region that takes us into the gorgeous area of Mackinac County. We’ll be surrounded by tree lined roads and the great lakes during the best time of the year for this area. We’ve put together a Viper Club event that will incorporate massive car shows, town parades, casino cruise night, dinner receptions, VIP brunch, Viper scenic drive, custom Viper Club chartered ferry boat tour, and more! This event has also incorporated events that will be happening in the area which will bring THOUSANDS of cars into Mackinac County! Similar to Woodward, cars will line the roads in the small town of St. Ignace as one of the most spectacular collections of automobiles arrives for the 33rd St. Ignace Car Show. And a plan has been made to create quite the Viper spectacle! It’ll be a car lover’s dream, a chance to show off your car, and some great Viper photo opportunities near the water. This happens to also be a great place to spend a romantic weekend! With the small towns and of course Mackinac Island, you’ll enjoy horse-drawn carriages, remarkable locales, incredible history, and that world famous Mackinac fudge!! I’m certain (as in my case) many will come earlier or stay later while they’re already up there, to enjoy some personal time and explore. If you’ve been there, you know why. If you’ve never been there, there couldn’t possibly be a better time! There’s something for everyone. You’re going to love this event!

The planning for this event began in 2007 and started in conversation with our own Roy “Father Viper” Sjoberg. As you likely know, he’s a huge part of Viper history as the head and the very first member of the Viper team. He was tasked with the ambition to explore the feasibility of building a limited production sports car. He was responsible for hand picking the 85 engineers who initially made up "Team Viper". Eventually, with development beginning in March 1989, Roy led his team to what we now know as one of the meanest vehicles on the planet… The Dodge Viper! He’s become a celebrity in the Viper world and on this trip he’ll be joining us! He’s also a VIP at the event and all Viper Club members will be a part of the special brunch honoring him and others!

I want to mention that these plans have to be made well in advance because this town (and surrounding ones) get completely booked up. Over 2500 cars, their owners, and over 100,000 spectators come to this event! The Viper Club has managed to secure 40 hotel rooms for our Club in a key location right in the middle of the action in St. Ignace. But rooms will only be held until March 1st. We’re asking everyone to get your forms returned to us and have your reservations made at the hotel before March 1st. Family and friends are invited. Now, for those who can’t commit this soon, you can enroll later but you won’t be able to be in the same hotel with the rest of the group. Though there are hotels outside of town that I’m sure you’ll find a spot at.

Let’s come out in force. The IL VCA and MCVO Regions are partially subsidizing this event to help keep the cost down for the multiple fees and expenses, and it’s very affordable. We’ve made this a national event, we want Vipers cruising in from all over, we already have several regions with members on board. The drive up there alone will be a fun one!

See you there!

This event is selling out quick. We are 70% sold out and it's only been a week since we've sent out the communication. We already have 40 memberbers throughout 8 regions joining us!

If you're interested, please let us know so I can hold a spot.

We got all our stuff from the St. Ignace car show people in the mail a couple days ago. Same kind of packet we've gotten from attending in the past....might take a few days longer to cross the pond.

Well looks like we're going to be nearing the 60 mark!! Almost 60 Vipers cars and 130 people are scheduled to attend the Mackinac trip so far. This has gotten huge.

The stuff did begin arriving from the folks we're coordinating with for the car show and parade. We'll follow up with more info as we get closer.

AFL - you can definitely come up. Only issue is that Saturday will be a packed day, on Sat we have the St. Ignace car show, cruise, and dinner. You'll have to register. email me at [email protected] and we'll work somehting out since you'll miss half the event.

Judging by the butt, it looks like Jon Dingler!! I would never mistake it. ;.) I see Kathy to the right, looks like they're having a ball with you guys.

Tell the gang I said hi, wish your whole group out there the best form the IL Region, hope you got the gifts we sent.

We look forward to seeing Jon/Kathy, and YOU when you come over for the Mackinac event. I'm sure you'll hold the record for the longest distance traveled to an event. It'll be the longest distance a Viper owner has come to make an event.

Take care and tell them that we can setup a teleconfrence if they still wish to participate in our monthly meetings while they're overseas!

Hello, Alex! Like most things with age, things tend to fall:). We are having a blast and am looking forward to the club meeting in Stuttgart. Bine and Edi's car is on the Atlantic, but I'm afraid they will not have it in time for their club meeting. What Markus and Bine organize for their monthly meetings are activities that combine a meeting and cruise. June's meeting will combine a musical and that means an overnight for those traveling greater distances (like us). Their meetings are also moved around Germany) so it is easier to combine an activity with the meeting.

See you all mid-June. peace
