You are very correct! I think that people have some interest in the absolute fastest times, but MANY more people such as myself are interested in the fastest times on regular street tires, i.e., Pilot Sports! For this other category, these cars should be street legal as well, so we can see who the true King of the Streets is!

WWWaaaaaaahhhhhhhh. How many classes you want. One for each car so everybody gets a trophy

Enter the group that does the bracket racing then if you want to feel equal. My car just has a different cat-back exhaust than stock but I'm lumped into the bolt on mod group that is running headers, no cats or mufflers, engine calibrators and such. Plain and simple I'm going there to have fun.

Although I'm not going to VOI I agree with Dan B. that you guys should have a street tire class. It's very frustrating trying to race someone who is on slicks while your on stock tires, especially with higher powered cars. I think there is a high MPH class which will not be effected by your tires too much, at least you have a chance in that one

Have you taken it to the track yet for practice? It's harder than most people think to run low ET's with gobs of power and no traction. Good luck

Geez Dan...... you had that mega zillion horsepower thing built and now you're gonna run the drags on stock tires???

I thought sure you'd come to this event ready and wanting to lay down a number that would make the rest of us go hide!! Some of us oldtimers still consider you to be one of our legendary heroes, dating back to the McClure days.

Anyway, the Hoosier Daddy is right about the "Bracket and Exhibition" Class. Personally, I call it the "fair deal" class if you really want to be competitive. It wasn't in the original plans, but I insisted. Ask Prashant...... I know how you feel. I'm always at a distinct disadvantage myself at the drags driving a road racer with the wing and all the other aero stuff, and sprung just about 100% wrong for front end lift. I'm generally near the bottom of my class in qualifying times. The good news is I always seem to make it to the finals by cutting consistent .520 to .560 lights. But, the bad news is there's usually just TOO much handicap to overcome with a nice holeshot by the time I finally meet up with someone WAY faster who is also decent off the tree.

SO, the bottom line is, we inserted a bracket class, just so no one with even an unusual circumstance could complain about not having a fair shot if they really wanted to have a chance to win...... like ME!

(Dang it, I'm TIRED of second place!)

HOWEVER, with all this said, there is still a possibility we MIGHT tweak the classes a little depending upon a special "tire support" deal currently being negotiated with a major tire company. We should be able to announce that VERY soon. In the meantime, think about joining me and others in the Bracket Class. You'll probably even end up with an advantage over us there! So much burnout smoke from those stock Pilots trying to harness all that blown mega horsepower that the rest of us will not be able to see the tree!

See ya there!

Not that I want 10 million classes, but I too will be running stock pilots at VOI7. and yes, I'm forced induction. And I am an inexperienced drag racer (well, inexperienced with a viper and with this much power).

That being said, I know I'll place pretty poorly compared to the experienced folk... even those w/o a SC will be better drivers than I. So i get to have fun but I'll be made fun of for having a high HP car but being a bad driver.

Anyway, my vote is for a Forced Induction class... preferably on radials.

Or perhaps just a DLM class... Then Dan and I can settle the score.

Wing King, While you are tweaking the classes how about making the heads up classes (I hope they are heads up)run off a pro tree. It is very unusual for heads up to run a full tree....just doesn't happen. tnx

Definitely an OEM tire class (tires that rolled off the showroom floor with your Viper)!

Street tires WILL ATTRACT MORE competition and combine the classes more evenly. Many folks will be driving their snakes to VOI and can't carry the race wheel cargo with them. And .... Not many people want to risk their drivetrain so far away from home!

I encourage the addition of a "Street Tire Class" and more racers will join in on the fun
