Geez Dan...... you had that mega zillion horsepower thing built and now you're gonna run the drags on stock tires???
I thought sure you'd come to this event ready and wanting to lay down a number that would make the rest of us go hide!! Some of us oldtimers still consider you to be one of our legendary heroes, dating back to the McClure days.
Anyway, the Hoosier Daddy is right about the "Bracket and Exhibition" Class. Personally, I call it the "fair deal" class if you really want to be competitive. It wasn't in the original plans, but I insisted. Ask Prashant...... I know how you feel. I'm always at a distinct disadvantage myself at the drags driving a road racer with the wing and all the other aero stuff, and sprung just about 100% wrong for front end lift. I'm generally near the bottom of my class in qualifying times. The good news is I always seem to make it to the finals by cutting consistent .520 to .560 lights. But, the bad news is there's usually just TOO much handicap to overcome with a nice holeshot by the time I finally meet up with someone WAY faster who is also decent off the tree.
SO, the bottom line is, we inserted a bracket class, just so no one with even an unusual circumstance could complain about not having a fair shot if they really wanted to have a chance to win...... like ME!
(Dang it, I'm TIRED of second place!)
HOWEVER, with all this said, there is still a possibility we MIGHT tweak the classes a little depending upon a special "tire support" deal currently being negotiated with a major tire company. We should be able to announce that VERY soon. In the meantime, think about joining me and others in the Bracket Class. You'll probably even end up with an advantage over us there! So much burnout smoke from those stock Pilots trying to harness all that blown mega horsepower that the rest of us will not be able to see the tree!
See ya there!
