This is way cool!

Keep up the good work.

Some of us would be interesed in how these cars are set up, without giving up any top secret information of course.

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

no one's running c6zo6?

Shocking isn't it? Just shocking. And after all that talk from so-called Viper enthusiasts that the new Z06 owns the Viper.

Congats to Scotty and the rest of the Vipers doing us proud.

This is AFTER the SCCA added even MORE ballest to the Viper just before the event AND keep in mind the Vipers are running restictor plates, with opening the size of a quarter, in front of the throttle bodies!

You forgot the part where all Viper drivers have one hand tied behind their backs. :D

And don't forget, no TC, no stability control. OMG how oh how can those Vipers annihilate the competition without any nanny aids?

Should not be Top Secret Information. Get hold of a SCCA Rule Book & you will see what a T-1 car is allowed & not allowed.

Keep us updated , as I believe they have qualifying every day until the day prior to the race. Interesting to see if Heinricy is sandbagging like usual?

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

For those of you that missed VOI, Cindi Lux was a speaker at one of the seminars. She spoke about driving the Corvette for a while and then switching to the Viper. Some thought it was a bad move because the Viper is so much more expensive, and what she found out was this just isn't true. The Corvette she had raced required a new set of rotors after EVERY race, and after 13 races the Viper was still on the original rotors. She spent over $30,000 a year for minor parts for the Corvette because it was all cheap crap that wore out very quickly. Her whole team now has a lot more time now because the Viper requires so much less maintenance.

If I remember correctly, she said she is running a 40% restrictor plate PLUS a 140 pound weight to make things fair for the rest of the field. Why is it that every magazine article written since the release of the C6Z06 has said the Viper is so much slower, but it is the most weight penalized car on the track? In the article with the Ferarri, Lambo, Porsche, Z06, FGT and Viper, didn't the Viper finish dead last? Cindi, I think this speaks volumes about your driving ability, and how dangerous this car is in the hands of the right driver.

Nice work Scotty, I will be down Thursday night to cheer you guys and our other buddies on over the weekend. Keep up the pressure and let me know if there is anything I can help with while I'm down.

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

Everyone on this post is assuming that the Vipers are running against the C6 ZO6's. That is not the case.

That is why I asked if there are some C6 Z06's in the races also. If not, the results do not mean much as far as these two cars go.

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

The results mean a ton, as the Viper weighs around 3700 lbs and has a restrictor plate reducing power a ton. This was done at the last minute, and yet Scotty and Cindi have kept their heads up. So running a car that is 400 lbs more than a Z06 doesn't impress you, then not sure what will.

Keep in mind the lead driver is a GM Engineer, a Pro driver that runs occasionally on the Caddy Team, and has more wins than anyone else in T1. Essentially you have two privateers running against essentially a factory car, and running with enough waight and engine restrictions to make life beyond difficult.

Kudos to the Viper Drivers as these are times based on skill.

Doesn't the fact that the C6 Z06 isn't racing speak volumes? I mean really, where is this magnificent super Vette that everyone, including some alleged Viper fanatics went turncoat for?

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

I guess the question is "are C6 Z06's allowed to compete in this class?" If so, and nobody chooses to run one, then that does speak volumes. If not, then we will never know what a C6 Z06 would do against these Vipers.

Chuck, I don't believe the C6 ZO6 has been homologated for SCCA T1 yet. That is why you don't see them racing yet. :)

Then the question is why not? The c6z06 came out about the same time as the Viper coupe. Maybe free-flying roofs don't qualify under scca. :D

Fair enough. Seems the Vette boys would've put the Z06 on the homologation fast track, but I suppose we can wait another year.

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

I thought the Z06 not being in T1 had something to do with the aluminum frame being an issue, not the lackof trying on GM's part.....

I fuly suspect that Heinricy WANTS nothing more than to be driving a Z06 in T1 - RIGHT NOW

I heard the same thing about the C6 Z06 frame being aluminum, i.e., problematic safety-wise for SCCA. :nono:

At the VOI9 discussion with Cindi, the Dodge rep mentioned that the T1 setup they run (or at least some flavor of it) was available through Dodge if you contacted Dodge.

Scotty has the pole for the race tomorrow - good luck Scotty!

Boy there are days in racing that you can't get any breaks.

At the start of the race, Scotty just checked out and was in cruise mode. He had an 8 second lead on the 2nd place car by lap 7! Then he got a flat tire from some debris that was on the track and he was forced to pit for a new tire. :evilmad: This caused him to go a lap down on the field.

He really did get robbed.

Sorry to hear that...If not for that flat, things would have been much different.
But its nice to hear from Cindi, anyway! :)

Re: Wanna hear sumthin cool?

Cindy - I thought both of you had tire issues. I want to know what is the deal with the Kumho in the later stages of the race, as it was blamed for Lance being able to catch up to you! I am probably ******* in the wind since I dont really expect to get a 100% objective reply (since they are a major sponsor to your efforts), but it never hurts to ask. Was the Hoosier that much better lap 15+?

I wasnt there but read the article SCCA wrote up - the stuff about you and Lance fighting it out and at one point touching rearview mirrors was cool...cant wait to see the telecast. When is it, btw???

My condolences to Scotty - he really deserved the win.
