Okay, I'm serious, I would love to join the VCA but I live in Richmond Virginia...and of course I hate that we have the va/md club because I cannot make any of the meetings/events because its 2-3 hours away! There are many Viper owners right here in Richmond who are in the same situation that I am in, if we had a section in Richmond Virginia I know it would be a hit.

Please everyone give me some feed-back, I'll do whatever I can to get this up and running (if possible)

Thank you
Patrick Mullins.

Hope you can find a group. If not the Carolinas region would welcome you! We do a lot of VIR events and Raleigh isn't 2 hours.

Form your own micro club (which is what I am trying to do here on Delmarva.) Get the local guys together as much as possible and attend the major club events as well.

Unfortunatly I do not see the club breaking down any smaller than the regions it already has. If the NC guys are doing more things near you there is no offense taken by swithcing to that region.

There are a number of Richmond owners, but they seem to be less than motivated toward get-togethers...

I have the same problem with attendance. Living in Richmond and my schedule between racing F-5's in the SCCA and work, it makes it difficult to attend a lot, if any, of the events that are 2-3 hours away when I might have only 2-3 hours anyway.

I'm always up for a beer on the deck at Legends if I'm in town.

Say when and where, but IMHO do not have the numbers to support a separate chapter.
Cheers

No need for a separate chapter, for instance Tampa isn't a separate chapter, but they still get together for a beer & wings on occasion. I stay in Chesterfield when I'm in Richmond, but frequent the entire region and up for something when I'm in town.

Patrick, I emphathize with you. There aren't that many events down there. The reality is that it's hard to host an event 100 miles away. Ron is doing a great job with the schedule. There is something almost every weekend.

Most of the events he's having are hosted by members who put together an event around something local that interests them. Unfortunately, most of the people that have volunteered to host events are in the DC or Baltimore area. I know that Ron has tried to get events hostsed down in the Richmond area. He's offered to have the club fund, mail, etc., but hasn't gotten much in the way of takers.

Ron and I would be happy to do whatever we can to help you set up an event down there. Would you be interested in putting an event together? I promise you it's easier than hosting a region...

I should also have said it is not for lack of events the VA/MD region puts on. They do put on a lot of them and I do get the notices. The timing is always bad for me.

The crabfest is coming up. I have heard that is always a fun event.

The crabfeast is a great event. We had 98 people there last year. I think it's likely to sell out this year. Unfortunately, the Fishermen's crab deck burt down recently. ***** to have you business made of kindling...

They are reubilding, but won't be ready by our original date. Gus has rescheduled it for Saturday, July 26th.

So, what's fun in Richmond? Let's plan an event right now.

Patrick:

I am in Richmond also. I try to take part in some of the local cruise in's on Sat nights. I am open to helping you out with a Va/Md luncheon here in Richmond or a smaller impromptu event for us local Viper folks.

As an FYI, I'll be up in Richmond the last weekend of this month for a wedding on Sat May 31st - not sure of the time, but *might* be available for a get-together (obviously depends on wedding and post-wedding events timing).

Patrick,

We've made a real effort to have events outside the DC-Baltimore corridor. I solicited volunteers for event coordinators in our Spring Newsletter and in a letter sent out to all members earlier this year. While it is true that our Maryland members so far seem to be more interested in hosting or coordinating events than their Virginia counterparts, not all our events are "2-3 hours from Richmond." We had a Viper presence at the Mopar Madness drag race and car show event in Petersburg in April. We have a lunch at ******* in Manassas this Saturday. We've got a pool party planned in Kinsale in August, and a lunch in Charlottesville in September. We hope to visit the Eavers car museum in Staunton in October as part of our fall cruise.

You are more than welcome to attend one of these events as a guest, so you can experience VCA camaraderie for yourself.

Well I'll offer my QuickLift and tools for oil changes and light mod work for a Saturday or Sunday light tech session.
