Enthusiast
If you [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]watch David Letterman tonight you will see an old friend of the VCA: Bob Lutz. You will also see that both Dave and Bob mention the Viper a few times. And you will hear one enthusiastic VCA member clapping when Letterman first mentions the Viper before Bob comes on (rumor has it he got chided by the Letterman staff for that one).
A couple interesting comments from Bob regarding the auto industry in general, including his distaste for mileage mandates. He said something to the effect of it being like telling the fashion industry to only make small clothes to curb obesity in America. When Letterman complained about the high cost of long-range electrics like the Tesla (which he skewered a few other times as well), he asked Lutz why GM and others couldn't build them for less. Lutz pointed out that they are extremely expensive to build with those types of batteries and there is only one thing in the $100,000 price range selling well at GM: The Corvette ZR1.
