If you [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]watch David Letterman tonight you will see an old friend of the VCA: Bob Lutz. You will also see that both Dave and Bob mention the Viper a few times. And you will hear one enthusiastic VCA member clapping when Letterman first mentions the Viper before Bob comes on (rumor has it he got chided by the Letterman staff for that one).

A couple interesting comments from Bob regarding the auto industry in general, including his distaste for mileage mandates. He said something to the effect of it being like telling the fashion industry to only make small clothes to curb obesity in America. When Letterman complained about the high cost of long-range electrics like the Tesla (which he skewered a few other times as well), he asked Lutz why GM and others couldn't build them for less. Lutz pointed out that they are extremely expensive to build with those types of batteries and there is only one thing in the $100,000 price range selling well at GM: The Corvette ZR1. :D

Thought you would be interested!

wouldn't mind seeing Lutz, but not on Letterman. He isn't that funny anymore & has become a bit of a pompous a$$. Besides, it's past my bedtime....

Wouldn't he be better on the Jay Leno show instead?

Agreed, but Letterman is sort of a car guy, he owns a portion of Rahal-Letterman Racing which races Indy cars and Porsches. I like Leno's politics better and he is a TRUE car guy.

I quit watching Letterman a few years ago when I couldn't take his bleeding heart liberal/neurotic politics anymore. He had some right-thinking Republican Presidential candidate on, maybe it was McCain, I can't recall exactly, who he blasted from the soapbox of his show. Maybe Letterman's that way because he keeps his TV studio so cold. That's why his audiences are always so bundled up, they're freezing, one of his neurotic quirks.

Danica Patrick drives for his team. Maybe he bought in so he could have rights to rub-up against her and whisper what-ever he is whispering into every hot woman's ear that appears on his program.

I was curious about seeing the Viper comments but my girlfriend made me turn off the computer, the TV and the lights, we're on vacation.

I never liked Letterman and always liked Leno. But now Leno has lost me too. His relentless bashing of Bush, even now that Bush is out of office, and his kid gloves treatment of Obama "the president who is just too cool to make fun of" has turned me off on Leno. Political humor is boring to me anyway, but it becomes aggravating when it is so obviously one-sided.

Fred Thompson?

TV studios are normally kept chilly. Heat + camera gear = bad.
Don't worry though; those lights put off a ton of heat.

The sole reason I'd want a talk show. :D

Danica Patrick now drives for "Andretti Green" and has done so for the past year. Could be one reason that she moved was to keep old Dave at bay. ;)
