Hey folks,

Just curious, how often do you guys wax your Vipers? Is once every month and a half (1.5 months) okay? I ask because several people in my condo complex have told me this will damage the car, though they offer no specific reason.

My other cars get waxed every 3 months and I've yet to see any damage.

Thanks for your input.

Art,It really depends on many factors. How often you wash the car ? What kind of wax used ? Where is the car kept ? The weather ? How often do you drive it ? Do you drive it in the rain ? Hand waxing ?

Wash the car weekly.
Meguiars NXT.
Garaged.
Sunny California.
3-4 times a week, heavy usage during the weekend.
No rain, though it was rained on twice during unexpected flash flood warnings.
Yes, hand waxing ;)

I still use the standard Baltimore test to determine if the car needs waxing......

First, catch a common housefly (Stickius Pedis). Since these are not on the endangered species list, their capture is not prohibited by federal statute. Next, carfully remove it's wings. NOTE: Blue Horseflys won't work because their little hoofs may scratch your finish.

The final step is the most critical in revealing the degree of wax on your vehicle............

Place the wingless fly on a surface which is < 17 degrees. If it slips on its ass, you have adequate finish protection......

i think there's a big difference with most of you having red cars. they and black need much more attention than the silver. metalic paint just needs washing once every week and go over it with nxt instant detail spray and it doesn't take that much time at all. It comes out great every time and I'm not thinking about waxing it until maybe a year or two. however keeping my red magnum is much harder due to the non metallic paint

I have never washed mine since I bought with water; I use the spray on quick wash bottles and use the Micro-fiber cloths to clean. The spray has a wax mixture. I have a heavy duty air compressor and used it to dust off panel joints. I spend about one hour cleaning after every ride. A little anal; but the car always looks brand new. I believe your advisors were referring to silcone based waxes which should only be applied no more than once every six months. The environmental friendly paints are sensetive to silcone. No need for silcone waxes on a new car; they are primarly used for older cars with paint oxidation.

I have 600 miles on a new silver in 4 Months.. only washed once, will wax soon.
If you dont drive the car too much no need to wash too frequently, especially w/silver or light colors, even with the most attentive care and best products, the more you wash it the better the changes of getting fine scratches in the clear coat.

Black is a diff story all together, just letting the car sit outside for 10 min will make you want to wash it..dust magnet :)

My car looks perfectly new with dusting. Def keep the brake dust off, what a pain that is... dont rub to hard ont he wheels either , they look to me like they have a layer of clear on them as well.
