I've had my 3" Random Tech X-Pipe and straight pipe in place of the resonators for awhile. I loved the sound, but wanted to free up some hp, so today I replaced the cats with 2.5" straight pipe...and...yea. Car is a good bit louder, I like loud but it is a little much. Between 2000-3000rpms theres a strong raspy really obnoxious sound, thats the part I'm not loving right now, other than that car sounds like a full blown race car, especially on decel...and flames aren't bad either.

I don't want to go hi-flow with cats because I've already installed the O2 sims from Casper and theres no emissions here in SC.

Suggestions to quiet it down a tad and get rid of the almost ricer sound?

Where's the best place to get the spiral flows and do they really help that much on the heat? That's awesome.

Is this more of a performance/hp option vs cats or a sound/durability option for high hp cars.

would it help in any way if I removed my 3 inch cats and put these on as I do not want to go catless or just stay with my 3 inch cats.

I would say less heat with the same sound level as highflow cats. I "think" they would flow better, but I have not done a flow check yet. It's fairly easy to build a homemade flow bench for exhaust....and checking these against cats is on my long list of STD. The main reason I changed was the heat issue with the Roe s/c mixture problem before the Vec2.

I think part of the reason why your car may not sound right is due to using the 2.5" pipes....when you go larger...the sound is way different.

Another option is a pair of turbos between your headers and the rest of the system.
