What a shame, a 2000 Steel Gray w stripes and only 1300 miles but it has a giant wing on the back. My apologies to anybody who has one on your car as I know everybody has different taste but I DO NOT like the wings. It says car was owned by a Private collector but I cannot see a collector modifying the car with a GTS-R wing. :dunno:

That wing would look a whole lot better on, say a red Viper or a black Viper but NOT a steel grey/silver striped Viper. I am not a fan of those big wings either but they do look better on certain color Vipers and worse on others.

Back end of this one would be OK?

What is...
VIPER ''GTS-R'' RACING TEAM WING

Not the Oreca team, because that is not the Oreca wing.

Regardless, it looks fully functional. Just unfortunate that it's never been "functioned." Take it off and sell it to someone who will use it.

According to the "next service" tag, the oil hasn't been changed since 2004! I know it doesn't have many miles, but that dealership is in St Louis, it would seem that the weather extremes would put condensation in the oil.

From the looks of why they chose to include the service reminder sticker dated jan 05/4k miles one may think it hasn't had its fluids serviced in the last 3+ years. Not sure I would be very happy about that. Nice car though. I would find it difficult to put miles on a car with such low miles though. I would rather buy a 10-20k car and drive it more then this which should be kept indoors I think. Wing ***** BTW...

i personally think the wing messes up the sleek lines of a viper and only looks right on the GTS-R, but i mean you could always take it off

i like the wing on the new ACR, not the gen2's. its something about the gen2's having rounded lines and the wing looking rigid/angular to me. thats why on the angular SRT/ACR's it looks right to my eye.

hard for me to explain.....

I think I can explain it.

There are poser wings and there are functional wings and there are posers with functional wings and there are trackers with functional wings but there are no trackers with poser wings.

The 08 ACR is a track car. Unfortunately there will be 08 ACR posers who will want to remove the wing because they won't want to be called a poser when in fact, that is what they are and for some reason they want an ACR. And of course there will be 08 ACR posers that love the wing. And then there will be 08 ACR trackers.

So the wing has little to do with the look, it has to do with perception.

This in no way is meant to offend the posers who know they are posers. There is nothing wrong with posers who know they are posers. It is the posers who pretend not to be posers that mess things up for car enthusiasts of all types.

Well said Chuck!

I am a self admitted non-garage queen poser. Drive the crap out of it on the streets when dry, wash and shine it lots too.

And when I do my wing, it will be a high quality poser wing for my poser car.

There. I'm out of the closet.

You and me both, Dave. I have a black GTS and it WILL have a wing on it eventually. Just like the way it looks on a black car. Personal preference. Me, I don't need any more than 450 under the hood. Looks are more important to me than speed, so I guess you can put me on the admitted poser list.

1. I personally don't like the wing but thats just me.
2. What speed do you have to travel before the wing has any effect on performance? and does the wing create any harmonic noise or vibration?
just wondering.

I will contact "RXVIPER". He is pres. of Gateway Club and may know the car. As a matter of fact, he has one of those wings on his gen 2.

Sorry, I do not know this car. I know one member here with this year and color combo, but he has more miles on his just driving to the last two VOI's.

Ironically, the Hummer Dealership across the road had a similar car (same color w/stripes) for sale a few months ago. It was a 7k mi car with no wing. A local member was interested in the car until PBJ on this board discovered it had been in a front end collision. It was being offered at 44k, and I'm not sure if they still have it.
