98vipergts -
I am going to help you as best I can.
I have a stock Viper GTS except for Roe smooth tubes, Roe filters, and Kumho Ecsta V700 tires (sticky).
When I first bought the car last July 2004 it just had K&N filters and stock tires, no smooth tubes.
Two weeks later at the track it ran a best of
12.3s@116 with a 1.94 60'.
Six months later it had Roe tubes and filters and back to the track I went on a cold December day with a 30mph headwind.
My best that day was a
[email protected] on a 1.89 60', but I had to completely get out of every 1-2 shift or hit the wall. 60' times were 8.0 at anywhere from 92-94.
My worst time that day and ever was a 12.6.
Finally on 4/29 I got to the track again, this time with some STICKY Kumho street tires.
The difference was clear -
All my launches were at 2000rpms as I always do, all my 60's were 1.8 and on 5 passes I went three
11.8s@120+ and two
11.9s@120+.
Finaly I took a chance and on my last pass launched at 3500rpms resulting in a 1.68 60', a 7.5 1/8, and a
11.67@120+.
I am an average driver, I don't powershift, and I can't do a standing burnout (I just dump the clutch and do a quick spin to clean the tires).
Here is a link to the videos that day, you can do the same, just tach the car up to 2000rpms, at the light let off the clutch and go full throttle as soon as you feel it grip, shift at 5800rpms, sit close and upright as you can, don't hold the wheel to tight, keep it straight, and go hand your buddy a loss. GET Kumho Ecsta V700s out back!
