No stock rims came chromed from the factory. Some are polished more so than others. 96, 97, 98 for example.

Some folks like that flashy poser look and get them chromed.

Personally I think chrome is for 57 Chevys. I like the high polish of the 98 rims.

In my opinion the 19 inch HRE 547's or 547r's look incredible!

As for the stock '98 or '99 rims. I think the looks are a matter of personal opinion. They are both polished and clear-coated, so they should have a similar luster. The biggest difference is the size. '98 has a 17 inch tapered 5 spoke rim and the '99 has an 18 inch wide 5 spoke rim.

personal opinion.... 18 is the largest you should go without doing a MAJOR brake upgrade. The stock calipers and rotors look REALLY puny and the wheels cry poser if they don't come close to filling the wheel opening. The real reason for bigger wheels rmember is rotor and caliper clearance....

That being said, the 18' size gives you the most options and the best pricing for tires, too.

BBS LeMans wheels are the same wheels on the ACR and Competition Coupe. If you get them in the brilliant silver finish they look nice on red.

The BBS rims are not exactly the same as the Comp Coupe or the ACR rims, though they are very similar. I agree, wholeheartedly , that they look great
on a Snake, with their high polished finished. Another great rim is the Forgeline WC3, polished, as it has a similar look, and is reasonably priced.

Thanks for all the replies.Janni you said 18 inch wheels they have the best options and pricing ,so is the 18inch
the wise choice are 17 inch old school. When I buy I'd like to have whats going to be around for a while, the best choices for wheels that is.

19 inch VR1 Forgeline wheels - my favorite, by far, on all colors that I have seen them on.

18" pilot sports are seriously on sale right now (i.e. $137 each for rears from Tirerack / Parts Rack) and there are many more tire options in 18" than 19". You are going to start to have to pay a premium for 17" tires - especially rears, so tire cost should be a consideration in your wheel purchase (if you are cheap, like me...) I wouldn't buy 17" aftermarket wheels. When we got race wheels, in hindsight, we should have gotten 18's, they were more $$ to start, but cheaper to keep in tires. I think the 18" rim is the best all around size. The 19" are cool, but you'll pay big $$ for tires and, my biggest beef is the more open they are the worse they look with small rotors - ESPECIALLY the rears. 18" rims will still allow for any brake upgrade I can think of in the future.

But that's just me and I am trying to be *gasp* practical....

Janni-thanks for the reply.The 18" pilot sports are a
really good price is that because there trying to clear
the warehouse or is it just tire wars right now. Going
to upgrade the brakes in the future.

I had Forgelines on my last car, and I have chrome ACR rims on my present car. I like the ACR wheels much better, although the Forgelines are really a better wheel. The BBS LM's just don't do it for me, even though a lot of folks like them, and they are affordable.

From what I can gather the sale for the 18" pilots is over. Everyone was clearing out last years tread design. Prices are now back to normal ($300+ ea)

As of 30 seconds ago, tireRack has 335 18" rears at $148 each. Fronts are back up, though, but it's still a set for around $900.....

I say go with the 18" OEM wheels... they look good, provide the extra room for 14" rotors, bigger calipers... and they are fairly easy to locate and purchase.

I know, I know it's a Black RT, but Adam started it with his Black pictures...... and a great excuse to post a picture!
