What are these holes good for?

Well, most likely this question has been raised already but I couldn't find an answer to it just by using the search function...

I also have to apologize for not having a picture at hand showing EXACTLY what I mean, so I'll try to describe it using the one below.

In the picture you can see this silver (aluminum?) crossmember between (better: under) the upper radiator hose and the powersteering pump. As you know, this crossmember is kind of symmetric over the width of the engine compartment, however, on the passenger side of it (unfortunately not visible on my pic), this crossmember has 3 holes in its top side, two quite close to each other and one a little farer to the right (looking from the passenger seat). There is nothing connected to these holes but as they seem to be "stock" I am really wondering WHY THE HECK THEY ARE THERE???

Maybe the answer is just "42"...

BTW: Would this question qualify for being one of the "10 most unnecessary questions ever raised about the Dodge Viper"?

Sounds like you're describing where the daytime running light module would be attached?, as they were required on cars built for Canada..

Wow, that makes sense! Didn't know about that canadian feature. Thanks for that quick answer. I was thinking to post this question since quite some time. When I discovered the holes for the first time, I thought that the previous owner installed something and the car may not have been stock anymore (although I was looking for a stock one). But later I discovered the same holes also on another Viper which gave me some relief as to how far my Viper was a stock one.

Yes, the harness (connector) is located below the crossmember and to the right and it's capped off.

They operate the headlamp. I got a caravan daytime running lught module and plugged it into my viper for the federal inspection when I imported it. Stupid rules
