What are typical 1/4 mile times / mph for stock SRT-10\'s ?

Was curious if the cars are as difficult to launch as the Gen 2 cars at the drag strip. Can the cars run high 11's in stock trim or nearly stock trim (e.g., filters)?

I am NOT a drag racer(only done it twice) and in my totally stock car I ran a 12.85 at 115 mph.

Rick:

Nice run and nice video. Sounds like you did not shift into 4th gear? If not, did you try any runs going into 4th?

Some of the other members---Chris for one---are getting close to hitting the elevens. I'm sure they will post. I have not run my car yet. The were some very informative posts a few months ago concerning the fact that with the SRT you need to shift as close to the redline as possible---not in the 5500 range as with the prior cars. You will be running around 120 at the end of third gear.

Didn't one of the mags get an 11.77 at 120-125 mph or so? I say with a decent driver, low 12's should be fairly easy, high 11's shouldn't be a problem at all with a good driver. Also have to consider track prep.

I also think maybe a Florida car or somewhere went an 11.8 as well. There was a post here a few months ago.

Motor Trend reported 11.77 @ 123.63 for a stock SRT-10 in the June 2003 issue.

Here's the link to the Motor Trend article...

On my first trip to the dragstrip with my SRT-10, my best run was 11.86 @ 122.95 mph with a 1.97 60' time. That's not that good of a launch so I think my car could have run quicker with more practice.

Here's the link to the old post...

I've run 11.6 at 125, measured with a G-tech. Not really scientific proof, but fairly consistent with what others are saying. My GTS with the same toy said 11.9 @118 on a warm morning. The G-tech is supposed to correct for temp changes. It's can't correct for the run flats. They are slickery in the mornin.

I may be wrong, but there was a post about the MT testing saying that they used correction factor to get their numbers.

If this is the case then the testing is pointless.

Motor Trend says they always correct for temp and altitude and other factors. Most people will only remember what is published if it is favorable. I guess MT thinks posting actual times would show too much variance. I think they should show actual vs. corrected figures side by side. I mean, did the SRT REALLY stop in 96 feet? or was that a corrected figure....who knows?

dwhitt,

Actually, I had to shift to 4th well before the finish line because of all the lost traction. The tires chirped on the 3rd to 4th shift but it wasn't audible in the video.
