What is the average cost to repaint side sills on the viper? I'm talking stripping off old paint and putting new paint on?

Not trying to hyjack, but ab you might have the answer for me. I too am going to have my side sills repainted, but I have a 96 GTS with the steel rivets that hold the insulation. This is where my corrosion is, not the actual sheet metal bolts that hold the sill to the car. On newer cars I have noticed no rivets. How is the insulation held in.

As low as $150 and as high as $300 for both. Plus $74 to replace the two clear pieces of "3M" protector in front of the sills.

Can those 3m pieces be bought as an item with PN# from Dodge ?

I have one that is lifting on one edge .

The newer vipers seem to have the heatshields attached on by adhesive.

That seems pretty cheap as far as cost goes. I had mine at the dealership and they charged a little over $700 about (2 years ago) to do them. I didn't pay for them, it was covered under warranty, but they stripped and refinished the sills for that amount. I was just trying to get an idea..of average cost.

Side sill insulation is glued in for GENII's. Early has metal on heat side and fiber against sill. Later has metal front and back. Early style causes sill random position corrosion, later doesn't.

If you have early your sills will corrode, just a matter of time.

$300 a side here also.

I still have a full set of plastic pieces (all 6 pieces). First $40 and they are yours.

why don't you use that sharp mouth of yours and just cut out some 3M pieces to match. But maybe that's too hard for you to think about.

Oh, I'm still taller than you..sorry.

Part #4708428 for the right side and #4708429 for the left side. Parts catalog lists them as side sill cladding in the loose panel section of sheet metal and when you run the actual number, it comes up as appliques, which is what they is.
Get ready for the viper tax though, list price is around $50.00 each.

Once again, another hi-jack (sorry if I tick anyone off). With respect to the sill insulation, has anyone tried the Roe wrap kit? I am betting that it is a far cry better than the factory insulation, and by using it may help in corrosion resistance (i.e. by elimating the need for rivets) not to mention the improved heat reflection. I plan on getting this kit, but was wondering if anyone has real world input. Thanks!

Rivets aren't your problem. That was a GENI issue.

If you have fiber in contact with your inner sill (OEM or otherewise), and are ever exposed to water (rain, washing the car, etc.) you will corrode your sills.

Becuase if I started doing stuff like that, my car would look ghetto like yours.

You finally make a decent post(somewhat, I altered it), instead of your usual dip$hit questions like "How do you pump gas ?" or "I beat up a 12 year old today!!"

Go on to another post, as this one is now actually relivant, and therefor has little use for you.
