Adam when and wehre are you going drag racing? With my car I found the best 60' times were launching at 3000 to 3500 and then slipping the clucth was able to obtain 1.7 60' times on street tires.

RPM has a different meaning to me now that I have started going to the track every once in a while!

Really Practice Mostly!!!

As that is what it takes. PRACTICE Many different correct RPMs to launch at and get a good start. But in the Viper you MUST Slip the Clutch with stock tires! And it take practice!
I am in the 1.8 60' consistently now, down from 2.0 when keeping revs low and dropping it!

But I will be trying GONABITES advice tonight!! Cause 1.7 on street tires is in my future!!

Thanks. When I had a Vette I would drop the clutch and never slip it. But now with 100RWHP more looks I will have to do it.

I always launched around 3,000RPM and slip the clutch. When you start slipping the clutch though, remember to push the gas pedal to the floor or you'll bog.

3,000 is a good starting point - but the technique you have to learn is easing out the clutch while you ease in the gas. When you get it right, the car will literally LEAP off the line and your RPM's won't drop below 2,500 even as you're launching hard.

With this technique, I have gotten 1.6 60' times on MXX3's at 29psi... which I think is pretty decent

What they said, especially regarding the need for practice. Also, contrary to some popular advice, do a good (5-8 sec) burnout before your launch -- heating up your tires WILL help your traction considerably.

Using all of the above, I've made it from 2.0s to 1.8s so far, and with considerably more practice I may be able to get into the 1.7s. 1.6s seem out of reach without a better prepped track, but then again maybe it's just the loose nut behind the wheel again...

Dang, I gotta get me some of them 1.7 second 60' times. The best I can muster is 2.0, so I guess I ****. But so does the track I run at. Well, I'll keep trying.
