I have not picked up my new 2009 Viper yet to read the manual but what does it say about proper break in procedure? Thanks.

common sense, differant rpm at differant times, never the same rpm for too long of a period, change oil after 500 miles, after 3,000 miles, start to run like a scaulded dog!:)

Congrats on the new Viper! the best thing for you to know is CHECK THE OIL LEVEL ALL THE TIME till you have 3000 miles or so. 3/16" on the stick is about 1 quart so top it off while you are in the breaking period. Otherwise as above

Step 1: After initial warm-up. Find long straight road.
Step 2: Engage 1st gear. Press gas pedal to the floor until you feel moisture in your pants.
Step 3: If no moisture in first increase to next gear and so on.
Step 4: If able to use all 5 gears, you must be in Texas.

Or you can follow the boring procedure in the Owners Manual like I did.

You're going to love the new car. Have fun.

Got my 08 in sept,I took it easy for the first 3oo miles then started hammering regularly for short 5 to 10 seconds bursts. Changed the oil at 800 miles and got it on the Dyno at 1400 miles where it showed 557 rwhp/ 502 rwtq. Now stored for winter, I plan on going back on the Dyno in the spring at 3000 and again at 5000 miles all stock before beginning to mod, just to see what she'll do.

I dyno'd high (~560whp) with a fairly similar break-in period.

Baby it for 500 then oil change! Then take it to the track and see what she will do. Change oil every 1000 miles until 3500. Then buy a new one!Start all over again.
Its fun!

I dynoed at 1400 miles and wonder at what millage the engine will be fully broken in and give max HP on the dyno?
I want to see the max stock HP numbers before doing any mods.I plan on keeping the car forever and want to get data of each step.
