What is the difference between gen I/II motors? Will anything swap over such as heads, valve covers or intake? Could a gen I be converted to a gen II?

Two very different motors. Few components are interchangable, and even when they can be changed, the results are not great.

Same with SRT motors. While they all share the same V10 architech, the engines are very different.

They all share the same pushrod technology, but the electronics, and fuel/air systems are very different.

All offer loads of low end torque, and tire shredding acceleration.

Gen 1 = 400-415 hp.
Gen 2 = 450- 460 hp.
Gen 3 = 500 hp
Gen 3+ = ????

I cant afford a gen II. I got a great deal on a gen I that I could not pass up. It all ready has full exhaust and nitrous, plus I plan to add a Roe. A stock Gen I @ 8 psi makes 537/612 and a Gen II @ 8 psi makes 580/622. I cant justify spending $10k-$15k more on a Gen II car for 43 horsepower and 10 lbs. of torque. I am sure some **** injection will make up for that.

It looks like a gen I has a 288/292 duration .495/.525 lift camshaft, and the gen II has a 305/297 duration with a .541/.541 lift camshaft. I wonder how much power a gen I motor would make with a gen II cam and how close it would be to the gen II hp? More lift and duration will make more power, hummm.....

The block, the heads, the camshaft, the exhaust is different. The whole engine is lighter. Dry liners instead of wet liners.
A Gen1 engine usually gives more torque/HP then a Gen2 engine.
A Gen 1 Viper is the tru Viper, A Gen 2 Viper is a better Car. A Gen 3 works ok as daly driver :)
What ever Viper You buy...you will love the car! It's so far away from any other super sports car.
When we have the Porsche or the Vette and some of our Vipers on the same parking lot...people only see the Viper... :)

You say you plan to add a Roe. They don't give those away. By the time you are done with buying the S/C, install, dyno tuning, possibly new tires(kuhmos), you will have spent 10 large for that. I am not trying to be a [******] but you say you cant afford a Gen2 but you will be spending a lot of money to make the one you bought faster?! You must have gotten a great deal on the Gen1 you bought!

Yes I got a good deal. But I would of put the Roe on a Gen II so it does not matter. I will post pics soon < ihave to change the wheels. I dont quite have it yet.
