Hey Adam,
It is a 6 1/2, but I have been told that a 5 1/4 fits better. I replaced my whole system and went with 6 1/2, but instead of putting the speaker back in the original location inside the door, I placed just on the outside. Looks original and sounds much better.

its a 6.5 inch. Most 6.5 inch will drop right in. I got an Eclipse coaxial that dropped in and utilized the facroty grill. they were $119 and sound great.

By front speakers I am assuming you are looking for the front "hood" speakers. They are 10' subs with coaxial teeters. Be sure to replace them with weather proof speakers so the rain does not damage them. ;>}

6 1/2, not 6 1/2S. There is PLENTY of depth, but you will have to drill some holes through the metal rim to screw them down. Depending on the model you buy you will probably have to either shim the speaker out or drill another set of holes through the speaker because most speaker grills are designed to mount flush against the speaker and the mounting hole in the Viper is too deep.

You probably won't notice a huge difference just changing the fronts midranges. Replace the rears with a mid-priced 2/3 way so that you get a little better sound fill from the rear.
