I bet you have metallic high-flow cats... Call Jon B. at Parts Rack and get some ceramic cats and that will do the trick--really, I did that on my Gen 2 and it made a world of difference. It was still strong sounding, but didn't make my ears bleed. Call Jon, he will have an answer for you.

my ONLY regret is the lightweight flywheel, low speed bucking, parking lot speeds are a pain and the fact that you HAVE to speed shift or your rpm's will plummit between shifts, yeah not too happy with it as far as streetability but as a performance mod, it works. STILL REGRET IT THO


+1 on this..The bucking is annoying, and I'm not sure the gains are worth it unless you track alot, which I don't yet do..Sometimes I have to just engage the clutch to keep it from bucking like a bronco in my 'hood..they're gonna think I have hydraulics :lmao:

With that being said, it revs a lot quicker than my buddies GTS with the heavy flywheel..:usa:

While on the subject... Has anyone done polyurethane engine/trans mounts and regretted it due to vibration?
I've heard it improves shifting but I'm worried about vibration with normal driving and idling.

I was afraid about the same. It really feels no different, and the shifting is much moooore smoother.

The car should be delivered with those mounts from the factory IMHO.

Generally no regrets, though I have done things in stages where I should have skipped all the steps and gone to the end game.

Tuning for example, went with a piggyback, then an upgraded piggy back, then scrapped it for an AEM. If I took what I spent on those three and the tuning associated with them, I could have just gone straight to the Motec and been happy from day 1. (Still have the AEM BTW, the AEM is 80% as good for my purposes as the Motec, but having all the sunk cost associated with the current set-up, I now can't justify it).

Another example is exhaust. I'd advise not just slapping headers on when you have $1200 to spend. Think about which cats, or no cats, which mufflers, and where you want the exhaust to be. If you stress the rear, and are going to be servicing the rear often, maybe you want side exit exhaust so you have easy access.

Moral of the story, THINK about where you want to end up and try to resist the temptation to do it 1/2 way....or in stages. You're often better off postponing a mod until you can afford the $$$ and time to get it right.

i have roe racing hi flo cats and the corsa cat back pipes it sounds great at idle but when i get on itit is way tooo loud and does not sound good at all im very unhappy anyhelp on what i can do because i regret it . the power upgrade is great but thats it . HELP

I actually have had the Random Tech Cermaic High-Flow cats with Corsa for the past 3 years and it sounds really good. Not insanely loud, which is why I just bought the Metallic High-Flow Cats from American Racing to go with my new American Racing Headers. If you're looking for something not as loud, the Ceramic will be perfect for you. I would have kept using my Ceramic, but they were a custom fit with one side having a 2.5" inlet to my stock headers and the other side having a 3" inlet to the corsa. Since I'm getting new Headers, I needed a 3" inlet, and also wanted a louder sound so for $200, just got the metallic ones that come with the headers.

Ha, I've thought about it! I figured, I've heard Ceramic cats on my car, so now I'd like to hear how the metallic ones will be. Besides, I wanna make sure I pass emissions with these now next year. I was told, they don't really check for exhaust related stuff on older cars here in MA, so I wouldn't have to worry. Regardless, to play it safe just in case I don't like catless, I would do Metallic. If I still want the car louder then I might consider catless next year, although I don't think I would like the strong smell that comes with them. ;)

Well, Tator told me the ARH are pretty loud with High-Flow Cats and Corsa lol. So I figured, the switch from Ceramic to Metallic will elevate the sound even more. So before I switch to catless, I thought it would only be smart to try this first lol. Besides, if I ever go catless and don't like it, I have cats that will already fit that I can throw back on :2tu:

They're great. Fixed my problem shifting into 3rd when running through the gears. Vibration was great upon install, decreased after the 1st 50 miles or so. Still more pronounced than stock :)

Where did you get yours? Seems like the best place to buy them is from Woodhouse.

They are really worth the investment especially the Woodhouse units. For the first 500 miles you might notice some harshness but then they settle in and are very smooth. The oem stock units are cheap and can fall apart. Call Mark at Woodhouse. You will be glad you did.

dave, id be curious to see the difference between your side exhaust (which id love) and my setup.

mine is downright obnoxious at WOT, cant imagine louder. but being 2' from your ears makes up for it. one day when i cruise down to texas, we gotta switch rides or take each other for a ride

My ears ring almost constantly. A subtle reminder that the Viper is not for schoolgirls. I love it on my annual hearing test questionaire, "Have you been exposed to any loud noises in the last 24 hours?"

The smell is overblown. Now after being around it for 2 years I kinda associate the smell with the car: its part of the whole experience. Cars DO have smells. This one may have a little more than others but it is not an unpleasant smell.

One more note; my wife has never mentioned it and you know how women are:D

What did you not like with the 3.55's?

3.55 gears, total waste of time and money.
315 Kumho's in front, car seeks grooves like a russian missile without tail fins...

100HP shot of nitrous, should have gone 300HP right away. (figured that one out 2 months later):D
