Ok, I'm pissed.. I smelled a coolant leak, took my Viper in for a diagnostic check, the dealer said we found a coolant leak at the thermostat housing, and you'll need a new gasket.. Bad news was that this gasket is not covered under the added care warranty.. I even called DC cust service and they confirmed this.. SO went back to the dealer and they quoted me a price near $400 because they wanted to remove the intake manifold to change this gasket.. I talked to a few people on this board and found that the manifold does NOT have to be removed for a gasket change on a gen I car.. I go back to the dealership, their service manager concurs (agrees to be able to do it for $120) and I went yesterday to reschedule.. About the time I am ponying up to the counter, the service manager pulls out their notes on the car and tells me that there is a broken bolt on the thermostat housing and that it will probably need to be helicoiled! (thus the reason for pulling the manifold)Why the hell this wasn't in the printout summary they gave me is beyond my comprehension. Dealership again calls DC on this and the bolt isn't covered either under the warranty! Not only that.. but the service manager tells me that the guy on Dodge's end said that if for example a bolt broke and your engine fell out it wouldn't be covered! What sort of BS is going on here? I would think that anything that is bolted into the head should be covered.. esp if a bolt failed. I'm wondering if this is a dealer issue. Anyone have a number for a dealer on the west coast that will handle my car? I'm willing to drive north as far as Portland or as far south as the Bay area/Sac. This really blows me away!

If you are talking about the crossover gasket, I had this replaced also, but mine under warranty. Also the intake gasket was replaced at the same time, also under warranty, due to a vacuum leak at the intake. (gasket not sealing). My warranty will be expiring this month and I will hate to see it go.

Transmission
Crossover gasket
Intake gasket
half shaft

All with excellent treatment from my dealer.
