I was under the impression that the only people who get the $850 were those who already spent the money and submitted receipts. Also, you have to pay taxes on that money - they're going to 1099 everyone who submits request for reimbursement.
I was planning on using it to buy the Mopar PCM, but after reading the details on the settlement, I thought we were out of luck unless we already had the claim in. Am I wrong?
Here's the email I received:
We are pleased to inform you that the VCA recently received the majority of the funds owed to the participants of the VCA Sales Advocate Contest. We were fortunate to receive a substantial payment as a judgment of Chrysler LLC’s bankruptcy case. While this is great news, this partial payment does not cover full reimbursement for any participant that submitted referral forms, we cannot confirm if additional funds may become available in the future. You may recall that this was a program where Chrysler L.L.C. would reward VCA members for referrals on successful new Viper purchases.
After discussion with the VCA Officers, it was determined that the fair and reasonable way to disburse this money is to reimburse each participant as follows: if you submitted one referral form, you will be reimbursed $850 and if you submitted two referral forms, you will be reimbursed $1275. Please keep in mind, you must have spent the $1,000 and submitted your receipt to VCA Headquarters in order to be reimbursed. We will identify those individuals and issue checks within the next week.
We will also identify and contact those that have not yet sent receipts in. As this time, no one will be reimbursed until the receipt(s) are received by VCA Headquarters.
One last note--all participants will be receiving an IRS 1099 Form. We need your social security number in order to prepare 1099s at the end of the year. We will be contacting all participants to obtain their SS numbers prior to releasing any reimbursement checks.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
