What\'s the best fluid to use to clean the inside of a road race wheel???

I wanna clean all that black crap from the inside of my CCW road race wheels, what should I use to make it easy, gasoline, benzine, acetone or just brake cleaner spray. Those in the know please reply.

Brake cleaner.... although usually a good spray with the hose and a brush with some Dawn detergent will get most crap off...

only thing that still foils my attempts is the silver foil duct tape that we use to cover wheel weights - takes quite a bit of elbow grease...

Janni... a general adhesive remover will take that "goo" from the tape right off with little to no effort.

Simple green, also spray it onto the A arms and stuff and the brake dust will wash away when then sprayed with water, no scrubbing necessary. Returns the undercarriage and rims to new looking.

Simple green or purple power works great. Wet the rim spray with simple green and use a light brush and wash a way.....
You can get them at any auto parts store, kmart or target.

Regarding the foil duct tape that Janni mentioned for wheel weights, the usual adhesive removers, such as Goo Gone do not work very well since it does not ********* the foil. This tape is great for not coming off when the wheels get hot at track events, but very difficult to remove, when you get ready for new tires. I have gone back to using gaffer's tape, which also takes the heat, but can be peeled off in one piece. It doesn't look as nice as the foil but is much easier to remove.

I thought cleaning the inside of your wheels was just a joke!

Guess I've got some catching up to do.

If you are ever considering selling the car, the bottom side should look like the day it left the assembly line. There are lots of owners that keep their cars in this condition. If you don't, then you will likely lose the sale to someone who does the housekeeping.
