What\'s up with all the crashes? :(

Hey gang, been intently reading for the last 5 months and in search of my snake Canada side, hoping to snag one over the coming months when the right car comes along!
Just thought I would get some input as to all the mishaps happening out there with many members as of late?
It would seem that anyone that spends time on this site is a cut above other Viper owners in at least hearing others opinions on what the car can handle and when, but I was wondering this:
When driving this car around town, moreso in areas that have few if any Vipers, which would be my situation when I find one, is the attention from other drivers that intense at times that you have drive on the defense beyond normal in anticipation that maybe the other driver is gawking at your car to the extent that they blow stop signs, wander into your lane, etc.?
Just wondering, thinking maybe cruising in a Viper is comparable to driving a motorcycle as far as predicting what everyone around you might do?
The cold weather issue is a dangerous mix yet I recall a few members getting T-boned by others that seem to be oblivious to what's a happening around them?
Any input would be great, does driving a Viper mean changing your driving style??? (assuming you have experience with fast cars apart from the physical differences, ie ride height!!!)
Never have seen a post on this, thought I would toss it out to the gang as I watch the snow fall.......
Take care,
Ryan

You do have to be a defensive driver, since people's reaction to the car are unpredicatable.

But more importantly you really do have to respect the car. I found out the hard way, that if you dont respect the car it will get away from you.. without warning.

Good luck in your search, and I am looking too..

I was getting gas the other day and this young sweety was looking at the car and actually drove over the curb while staring at my Snake(Viper).

Also, this guy was givin me the thumbs up and he came into my lane.

I had to laugh, never got that kind of a reaction in my Prowler.

I am always more aware while driving one of the cars that stands out more than my others.

Hey Afy, sorry to hear about your situation, glad your not too proud to post your experience, maybe others can learn from your input! Great that your okay, after all it is just a car, just a gorgeous one at that, had to laugh at the clown shoe comment from the torque lacking jokers over at prime though....
Gary, you would say that the Vip garners more attention than the Prowler than, guess that's not a bad thing.....
When I rented a GTS a month ago in Vegas the chicas would ohhh and ahhh over the car, oops I mean me, until they saw the mongo rear plate bracket that said exotic plate rental, next time in Vegas I'll bring my own flathead!!!

I think the increased frequency as of late is just some bad statistics, sorta like multiple "celebrities" eating bark on the ski slopes at around the same time...

Colder temps mean less traction even though the cold air makes the engine run stronger. The Pilot Sport tire is rock hard compared to the old XGT's even at normal temps, turn the thermostat down a bit and things get sketchy quick. JonB's post on the ACR driver hitting sand in a business district merits attention as well. There are "fast" cars and then there's the Viper, if you want to go fast save it for the track cause city streets aren't capable of the speeds the Snake is. Be careful out there folks, I stuffed my Viper last year and I feel the loss every time a motorsports weekend comes up and I can't be on grid or even just a weekend cruise night.

you just have to keep in mind people will react different
to you because of the car.
most give you thumbs up, blow kisses, etc.
others for example cut you off and hit the rear wiper squirt button (real a-hole)

so you just have to keep in all in perspective and drive extremely cautious cause anything can and does happen

good luck with the car.. try Bill P at Woodchuck
