Wheel and Tire size options

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a 1999 RT/10 with 18" wheels with rear 335/30R18, front 275/35R18. I haven't found a lot of tire options in these sizes. Are their any other tire sizes that will work with this vehicle? Do the wheels need to be changed for other tire sizes?

The later cars use 345 section rear tires, so that would likely fit under your fenders at least, but looks like those sizes aren't really any more available. They tend to use 19" wheels on the back too, so unless you got new rims you're in a bit of a pickle. My mom has the same problem on her 94 with 18" wheels. It was pretty much Michelin PS2's or full on track tires. She used to have some Kuhmos that she really liked, but they have since been discontinued or at least haven't had another run made in quite some time.

The stock 19" rims take 345/30-19 tires. I've run Michelin Pilot Supersports since I got the car and have been very happy with them. I think you get a few more choices in this size, but it's still pretty slim pickins when you get that wide. I believe the gen 5s run Pirellis and I think Nitto still makes the Invo in that size.

You should be able to, but you'd just have to be careful and watch the overall diameter with a tire mounted. I think many of the custom wheels are larger diameter than stock.

I just bought a beautiful as new 1998 GTS. Red with silver strips.
But a few oddities.

Car has CCW wheels 17” rear and 18” fronts. Just ordered same size tires as Car came with, 335/35-17 and 285/35-18.

I see why 18” upfront. Prior owner upgraded rotors to 14”.

Does anyone have any clue why prior owner left rear 17”?

Second question, maybe wrong thread. Ride height. Measured chassis to ground adjacent to front and rear wheels. I have about 4”
Measured to top of fender I have 26.5 front and 27.5 rear.

Anyone know where it should be?

That's pretty bizarre. Wonder if it had something to do with either tire selections or just rim availability. I have a hard time believing CCWs don't come wide enough in 18"+ varieties. Do the tires match? Sometimes people will do funny rear tire sizes for stuff like drag tires, but not typically street setups as far as I'm aware.

As for ride height, I don't quite remember my exact numbers, but those sound in the ballpark at least. The rear is typically at least 3/4" of a inch higher measured at the frame to the ground. I know I've lowered my car slightly with some MCS singles, so my numbers aren't going to be "right" so to speak.

Toyo, Pirelli and BF Goodrich make street tires for the rear (335/30R18).

Hello Deep,
Yes it is. I believe you can actually safely put a 305 on the front 1999 OEM 18" wheel but I chose to go with the 295 which is still a nice upgrade from the 275. Jon B. can steer you right.
