I've got '00 wheels. The rims are getting hazy looking on the inner curved surface towards the rotor. I've tried a few products with no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks,
Michael

Have them polished and clear coated. Otherwise aluminum tarnishes. Plus you won't have to worry about brake dust discoloring. without clear coat alot of cleaning and waxing is necessary.

Simple Green. Spray on & clean with very soft mit, then hose off. Do one wheel at a time. Yes wheels must be clear coated, I assume they are. Good Luck!

Hi Michael... I think that your problem is quite common with these style rims....I have an 02 GTS FE and the rims have only 1000 miles on them....they came from woodhouse dodge with slightly hazing on the inside like you described.....That "inner area" is more prone to more dirt...the hazing is from washing the rims and actually grinding minute particles or brake dustand dirt right into the clearcoat....No product will clean those swirls up....except a rubbing compound like 3m #390002....use by hand and rub fast and with mild pressure, wipe with soft Towels...the hazing is not dirt it is scratched clearcoat...wash well and use rubbing compound to get looking new.

Yeah I am having the same problem too. It is a little bit of a pain but it is something that does not seem to be avoidable so I just try to make sure it does not get worse. The more frequent you clean your wheels the less the chance, although this can become quite a pain.

Are you refering to chrome rims in general? The wheels in question on this thread (late OEM) are not actually chrome, they are highly polished and clearcoated.

Yes--your wheels are indeed clearcoated. Only use products that you would use on the car's paint.

I would recommend starting with something gentle, like Blue Coral Scratch Remover, taking a few applications. Then Zaino.

(The wheels are made for Dodge by Prime. Sadly, they do not use the same quality standards as they do on their aftermarket wheels.)

Magicboy,

Yeah, I just got some stock rims chromed. Not sure if Chrome fades out like High Polish does, and whether it is a good idea to clear coat them.
