No joking aside, I'm being totally serious...but I actually use my leaf blower to dry off the car. :2tu: Go and ahead laugh but not only does it dry faster but no touching means no swirls, scratches or stuck chamois. :D

Pick yourself up a Craftsman 16-gal 6.5-peak hp Wet/Dry Vac with Detachable 265 mph Blower at Sears. I have been using one for years and it work great for drying the car and blowing the water out of the crevaces. It also saves a lot of time. Also, there is no chance of scratching the finish since there is no physical contact. You might only need a cotton towel to dry the remaining drips here or there.

I also use a leaf blower (an electric model; some say the gas-powered models can have some oil/fuel residue in the air-stream). It works great, so long as the surface is waxed/protected sufficiently to make the water bead-up nicely. I use DF towels (said by many to be the best, and available on-line) for any necessary final drying, and for wiping off the quick-detail spray.

For god sakes man, do not use these things. This is old technolgy stuff and should be considered obsolete. The whole process will swirl your paint over time. I own a BLACK vette and a DEEP blue saphire GTS and I do not wash either of these with a garden hose, bucket and sponge at all. I have "0" swirl marks as a result.

What I have done is I have put 10 coats of wax on each of my vehicles (I just happen to use Zaino). When they get dirty or dusty I first blow the debris off with compressed air ( I love my air compressor ). I then just spray it down with Zaino's detail spray using a "high quality micro fiber cloth". I actually use three or four cloths for every cleaning/spraying of the car (I turn the cloth over many times thereby using the 3-4 cloths ). Whala, gorgeous gloss with "0" swirl.

I also have a spray bottle I made up filled with soapy water. Again, I just happen to use zainos car wash mixed with plain water (Zaino will not strip the wax). I actually mix my soluton a little stronger than recomended. I then throw the spray bottle in the microwave for a minute or two to heat up the solution since it seems to cut road **** better. I then use it on the front fascia for bugs, sills, and fender wheel well rim areas. Still, I use only the "micro fiber cloths" with this soapy water. I only use my finger tips on dirt or bugs that require firm rubbing to get off. I then follow with the detail spray and, whala, clean, shiny and "0" swirl.

I must add that when I wipe the car down I never use the old circular "wax on wax off" method either. I always wipe the car down methodically in one direction. Staight up and down for the sides of the car and from front to back on the top sides of the car....and whala "0" swirl.

The only time I ever use water and hose anymore is for the the inside of the wheel wells.

So, chamois, schmamy don't do it. There are better methods out there. I hope you find one you like. However if you still insist on using your chamois, well, I guess I can allow it :)

Good Luck
Matt
