Same as Craig - Valvoline Quick Lube. Bring my own oil and filter (they charge me $10 to do it). Better yet, I drive it over the pit and off. No car jockey grinding the clutch and no "guesswork" to get it on a lift (one 5-Star Dodge dealer removes all the supports from the lift arms and then puts 2x4's on it to lift the Viper - yuck). Oh yeah, and fast too!

I change my own oil. Didn't take too long. Plus, then you don't have some schmuck at the instant oil change garage messing with your baby.

I also take my own oil and filter to my Dodge Dealer, I pull it on and off the rack and peer around underneath (could do the work if I wanted. However they charge me $13! Now I've got some ammo with which to negotiate!

One of the main reasons I do this is so I can have official Dodge documentation of the service intervals, for my records and theirs. When I'm out of warranty it might change, but I like going by there and visiting with those guys (building a "relationship").

My local Oil Express stocks Mobil-1 15-50 and carries the Mobil-1 filter just for me. They take great care of my car, always inviting me down below to have a look. I get great service and I'm very comfortable with their work. Of course I watch every step they do...

Rob,
I live in Calabasas. I have a lift in the garage and do all my own work. Bring over the oil and filter and I'll help you out.

I changed my oil yesterday: Went to Valvoline Quick Lube with my Mobil 1 and filter. Pulled the car on. Went down below and watched the process (he offered to let me do it myself and I told him he was welcome to do it - he enjoyed it). Watched the fill and checked the dipstick afterwards before pulling off. No lube, no checking other fluids, nothing else done. Pulled the car off myself, of course. Total cost? ZERO. They charged me nothing and were tickled just to have the car in there.

Now, I know some people really enjoy doing that sort of thing. I used to always do it myself on my other cars several years ago. The problem is that I don't have a lift, and am unlikely to be able to afford one anytime soon. I don't have a jack and don't want to spend $200+ to buy a low-profile version. And nothing personal, but jockeying the car around on 2x4's, messing with jack stands, etc. is just too much to worry about for one bolt and an oil filter. Sure, there is the very remote possibility that a complete idiot could screw it up, but even these "kids" have probably done more oil changes in a week than most of us have done in a lifetime. I cherish my baby as much as anybody out there, but trusting somebody with something so simple poses no problem for me.

Just my opinion and not intended as a flame...

I'd change my own oil as well but I've got nowhere to put it. It's easier just to take it to the tire store and have them do it, I've got no place to put all the used oil.
