Thinking about picking up a 99-02gts but I am worried about what I would do if I had a mechanical issue?

I live about 15 minutes from Columbus - any service centers around here that can be trusted?

Also can you take it to regular dodge dealer for oil changes etc?

If you're willing to drive 1 1/2 hours or so McCann Racing is highly recommended.

McCann Racing

Not every Dodge dealer is going to know what they are doing on these cars, and a decent tech does not mean that the dealer will allow him to treat your car right.

Honestly if you have worked on cars before you will find the Viper to be very easy to wrench on. Oil changes are nothing special other than getting a low profile jack or using boards to get it up a little so a regular jack will fit under it.

McCann Racing, now Team Remington, is highly recommended. Dan Fiffick is the team operations/crew chief. Engine work, performance enhancements, suspension upgrades, they are the ones to go to.

For my regular scheduled service I go to Golling's Arena Dodge in Dayton, Ohio. They are one of our club's sponsors. They have taken care of my Viper and Prowler for many years. They give us discounts on parts and have a very good service department. Ask for Tim Miller.

Check out the club's website at www.viperclubohio.org Take a look at the scrapbook section and our latest newsletter.

01sapphirebob, when did you get the snakeskin green? I am green with envy!!

Take care,

In C-bus, there's Bob Caldwell Dodge on Morse Rd.
They're a 5-star dealer and have a qualified Viper tech.
You'll need to stay with your vehicle though and watch them (their driver couldn't find reverse with my ride....heh heh).

Also on Morse Rd. is Evans Automotive.
While not a Dodge dealer, they do work on the big-budget exotics (Lambo, Ferrari, etc) and certainly know those rides.
I'm not sure how well their Viper stuff is, but I think I'd trust them to work on my ride.
Ask to speak with George (the owner) if you call. Great guy.

You're also welcome to stop by here.
I'm happy to help Viper owners out.

Thanks,

I am deciding between a viper gts and a c6 (would rather have the viper) but was concerned about that, and actually fitting in a viper..

I am 6'7 300lbs and am afraid when I get the opportunity I won't fit into the car I have always wanted.

I imagine there have to be other big guys who own this car and I have heard of the seat lowering.

Yes, there are seat lowering kits out there. Contact JonB at PartsRack. PartsRack.com - Home

And as far as the C6 or the GTS. Everyone on this forum can tell you what the answer to that is. Deep down you know what the answer is too.:2tu:

That's reassuring..

And yes like the guy said earlier I def want the viper but was worried about these two issues. I am hoping that with seat lowering I shouldn't have any issues.
