I'm not sure how much background you have with the Gen 5 Viper platform, and I'm also not sure what goals you have. The factory didn't leave nearly as much on the table tune-wise as they did with the Gen 4 (2008-2010) cars, so there isn't much to gain through just a tune on an otherwise stock Gen 5. Adding headers (or any exhaust mods) will pretty much require a tune of some sort to get the most out of them without throwing a check engine light, and that's where the Prefix race control module (formerly known as the Arrow PCM) shines. It's about as plug and play as you get, but a trip to the dealer will still likely be required for a throttle relearn, and maybe to marry it to your VIN if Prefix doesn't already do that prior to shipment.

I could write a small novel on the pros and cons, but what's linked above is my current recommendation based on what you've posted, and would likely satisfy the average Viper owner.

Don't expect a night and day difference though.
