Ok guys, with 717RWTQ, my car pretty much stands still when i floor it. 1st and 2nd are useless, i can only use all that torque on 3rd@3500 and above. i raced my cousin in his supercharged LT1 (he has BFgoodrich comp T/A drags), and even without turning on the NOS, my car spun all of 1st, and most of 2nd. i still beat him, but i was spinning the whole time.

I have decided to look for tires like his, but cant find the right size, (COMP T/A widest size are 315s). i cant find the R1s (in 335 size) that someone mentioned a while back on the board. The HOOSERS look pretty nice, but not sure if they will work for street/strip.

I am looking for tires that i can put on my stock wheels (18"), and that i can both use daily and take to the track with me (1/4 mile/Autocross/Viperdays), so, any ideas??? Will the HOOSERS (R3S03 and A3S03) work??

PS i don’t drive in the rain, so it should not be a problem of the tires can/should only be used in the dry.

PSS i have already tried a search, did not find any useful info.

I found the BFG G-force R1 in 335/30 18s. ( http://www.wheelenhancement.com/R1.htm ) How do they handle? does anyone recommend these tires? do they corner as well as our stock tires? do they corner well at all? if anyone has tried these tires please reply, THANKS.

This is a very good topic. I would like to find a tire that has considerably better traction to run on the street but dont want to use a different wheel, nor do I want racing slicks, to many downsides.I know that a better straight ahead gripping tire will not handle as good as a stock tire, but Im willing to sacrifice a little handling for traction.I do realize that if there is a better gripping tire out there the 18 inch on my car will limit its sidewall heith.17inch would be more desirable.I sure like the 18inch wheels on my car.Maybe they make a taller 18inch tire? You would have to lower your axle ratio but I guess if you find a tire that grips pretty good your going to have to do that anyway to keep from bogging down...373 ratio maybe??

You can't runHoosiers on the street. As they heat up, they will pick up every peice of sand and stones on the road. You will be shooting stones everywhere from the tires. It seems like you need to lower air pressure on the street tires if you plan on racing and launch from low RPM's.

MASH,

I believe that NITTO is coming with an 18" 315x18 drag radial that will help tremendously. I use them on 17" rims for street action and they work alot better than stock tires.

Also, rumor has it that BFG has a new Drag Radial as well. I have used both brands, and they are both good although I like the Nitto better. Either tire is worth .3-.5 tenths at the dragstrip.

Good luck,

Tom

looking for that elusive (re: nonexistant) all purpose super-sticky street tire that will fit a factory wheels?
as close as you're going to get is a 345 35 18 pilot sport pickled in vht, pro-blend, or your softener or choice.
other than that, give it up. drag radials are a joke, the joke just gets more pathetic at 18"
