Guys I have a 05 Vert. If I put the sun visors down they completely block my view of the road.

When I have the top down and am accelerating they get flung down by the wind and get in the way, almost causing me to crash once.

What is the point of these visors? I'm going to remove them and wanted to get any negatives on doing this.

Was all set to do this but was driving into the late afternoon sun about a week ago. Had to lower the visor just a little so it was almost poking me in the forehead but it helped. I tried without (all the way up) and with just sunglasses and was blinded by the sun. You are right though, all the way down and you can't see the road, arggg.

Seems like a terrible design. I can't imagine a time where they would be needed. I also don't have to wear sunglasses in the car. Don't have any problem with sun. I think this will be a great thing to make it feel like there's more headroom, not have to move them out of the way to take the top down, and not have to worry about what to do with them when the top is off

In coupes the visors serve little purpose, and removing them makes the interior much more spacious feeling.

In a vert they serve some purpose, but only when the top is down.

They can be raised at an angle to deflect wind away from the cockpit, or angled forward to scoop cooling air into the laps and footwells of the occupants. They also serve as a sun block when angled upwards in case the sun is just above the windshield header.

As the OP noted, this usually is only effective at lower speeds, as once over 50 the wind tends to blow them back.

A popular option is to install a club or manufacturers decal on the top of the windshield. With a little neck movement these letters can be used to block glare when heading into the sun.

Note that the visors on the latest Gen V vipers are much more user friendly and practical.

Maybe the earlier visors were designed to provide some level of padding against hitting your head on the windshield header.

As earlier noted, it is a 5 minute job to take them off, and just as easy to put them back on if you change your mind.

Never had the wind blow mine back with the top down. Maybe there are screws loose on yours that need to be tightened so they don't flop down in the wind so easily?

The main thing I use them for p, which is pretty handy, is to block the wind and guide it above my head at speed. They actually do a great job of that, and when I tried moving them down just to see the difference, the wind really came into the cabin badly.

You don't need them, but I'd keep them on if I were you and just tighten them up so they don't fall down in the wind so easily.

My 03 already had had them removed by the previous owner when I bought it. Honestly, I didn't even really notice them missing. Do it.

I popped mine off and haven't noticed much for ill effects. There was one day when I got caught coming right at the sun at the wrong time, but it wasn't too bad. I'm tall enough that I can't really use them anyway. If I tilt them down at all I'll lose most of my view out of the windshield. If I had a seat lowering kit I might consider putting them back in, but for now it's been nice without them. Easier to pull the top down to latch it for sure.

I took them off yesterday. It just looks too unfinished on the already lacking interior. It didn't make me feel like I had more headroom or anything. I also noticed they help with air passing over the car when the top is down. Guess you cant win them all. I believe sun visors are needed in this car, they are just a bad design.

My thoughts exactly. I took the one off the drivers side on my ACR but left the right one on for my wife. On the 'vert, I left both as they do direct air up and over your head...I sit quite tall. I haven't had the problem of them being blown downward by the wind. Maybe I need to drive faster??

My wife has found them useful before, but she's 5'4". At 6'4", it blocks my entire field of view.

I removed them the day I got the car home. Put the screws back in the holes. No one has ever noticed the visors missing - it doesn't look unfinished to me. Quite the opposite - clean as XSTAR says.

I 100% notice they blow the wind over my head with the top down, a lot more enjoyable with them on.

I removed mine when my friend pointed out that they look like eyebrows when the top is down haha. Never looked back, useless things.

Does anybody know if there is such thing as a wind deflector for Vipers? My wife drives an Audi convertible and it came with a "rear" deflector. You install it behind the front seats and it works miracles, especially since she is very concerned with the wind messing up her hair... Let me know!

Someone was making them, although I can't recall who. I made my own - although to be quite honest - it's hard to tell if there is an appreciable difference. Pretty easy, inexpensive project. I could send a picture if interested.

Took off my visors very early on. 2 screws, I think with Torx heads if I recall. Stored them in the garage and put them back on when I sold it.

Driving around I just wore a ballcap and glasses. Every time.
