Who\'s got the Gen 1 in Aruba?!

after seeing nothing but 3 or 4 cylinder cars there for over a week I was amazed to a red Gen 1 come blazing down the strip

license plate was 'POP' - i wonder if the owner visits this board??

after seeing cars with straws for exhaust pipes that viper looked sooo badass

Don't know his name but his son Roy works in the Seaport Casino. Talked to him for a while and he said it is the only one on the island.

thanks Bo, that makes sense..i saw the car right past the Renaissance Hotel where the Seaport Casino is. its pretty sweet there is only 1 on the island & i spotted it

Seems like a bit of a waste to me considering there's not a single paved mile on the island where the speed limit os over 50. I'd get a little frustrated myself.

Believe it or not there is a drag strip on the island. I ran my rental car down it !! LOL !! There is a lot of people into performance vehicles & racing on the island, cars & bikes. If you drive to the outskirts of the island you see a lot of drag cars sitting in peoples driveways. I've seen bikes driving down the roads with extended swing arms & wheelie bars on them ! It's also legal to drive 4 wheelers on the roads & there is no helmet law. It's a great place. Did you stay at the Renaissance ?

I agree with the ban on Aruba travel because I don't think they are handling the Holloway case properly. In fact I suspect some kind of cover up is going on. However, I own a time share there so I go back every year for vacation. If I was looking for a new place to visit I wouldn't go to Aruba.

I agree with the ban on Aruba. They are letting those teens get away with ******. I'm sure that Aruba is a beautiful place but I wouldn't go there. No offense to the lone Viper owner. At least there is one cool person in Aruba.

Aruba is a great place, my wife and i went there for our honeymoon, and loved it, however I will not go back until they do the right thinkg with the whole natlaie halloway thing. its just plain wrong.

Since a few of you know the island well I'm looking for a reccomendation on a hotel. I'm going there the 2nd week of January, as I won a company trip. I'm staying at the Hyatt which is in the Palm Beach area and was planning to extend the trip a couple extra days but the Hyatt is sold out. I was wondering which hotel you'd reccomend that I stay in?

Keith - soon soon, haven't seen you guys in a while. i was acutally in EB for Thanksgiving.

Bo - yeah, I stayed at the Renaissance. Loved it!

Jim - try the Renaissance! its off the strip closer to downtown but the hotel has its own private island they shuttle you out to. it'll give you the chance to explore the downtown area for the last days you're there. the private island makes that hotel. its about a 10 min boat ride to paradise. when i go back, i'll try & stay there again.
we went to the Hyatt one day & that'd be my 2nd choice. the grounds at the Hyatt are the nicest on the strip IMO.

hey tim just got back from aruba,for my two week stint,saw the same car, with the plate(POP) NEVER EXPECTED to see one down there.

All the places on the island are very nice but like Tim said, The private island offered buy the Renaissance puts it a step ahead of the rest.
