Why are the 60 ft. times not very good on the Vipers

We all know that the 60 ft. times are the most important when drag racing. If we compare to the Porshes and ferraris we are getting blown away. The new Enzo Ferrari will make 650 HP but only 4 hundred something in Torque yet it will do 1.20 60 ft time. The Porsche GT2 is making the same horsepower and less torque yet it does a low 1.20 60 ft as well. What can be done to the Vipers to get much better 60 ft times without going to slicks. we should not have to pass them mid track.

are you cmoking crack? 1.20 60ft???? i dont think so.... drag cars running 8's have a hard time running better then 1.3X 60ft times! you must be thinking of somthing difrent...
My stealth that is over 700hp, AWD, and running on 4 nito drags, and run's 10.88 only run's mid 1.6X 60 ft times! even with 4 slicks, I dont think I could do much better then 1.4X's

I have never seen either one of these cars run. I run 1.90's in my Viper. 1.20 seems awful fast for these cars assuming they were on street tires. I know the Porsche and Ferrari have better weight transfer which would equate to better traction. I also think their torque does not come in as quick as the Viper. I am not sure but Porsche did not make the GT2 AWD did they?

I really doubt they do 1.20 60' times. I had a big stall, gears and slicks in my C5 and I did 1.5's to 1.6's. That is pulling really hard out of the hole. No, the GT2 is not AWD.

Yes please recheck your numbers, my outlaw 10.5" car will run 4.99 1/8 mile and 7.70's 1/4 mile and the 60's are 1.17 to 1.21
Wherever those numbers came from they are wrong.

I have pulled 1.6 60' times in the Viper and at that level, the car lifts up on it's suspension and looks like it's going to pull the wheels up!

The 911's can probably hit low 1.6's with a 6000RPM clutch drop, but I don't think it's very common (at least not without laying parts all over the track!).

Without going to slicks, there is little you can do. You can practice and practive and do it again, but beyond that, there is a realistic traction limit that cannot be exceeded without a more sticky tire.

A well tuned Viper with Drag Radials will do 1.50-1.55 in the 60 foot, street tires 1.75-1.85. There is no Super car in the world doing that! Most of the Supercars have a 60-foot around 2.0 with street tires.
1.20... in your dreams!

Not doubting that you read that but just to give you some reference, here's my tube chassis drag car. (850HP BBF with a glide, dana 60, 4-link and 14" X 32" slicks) This car runs 8.80's to 9.10's. Best 60' time I've EVER had was a 1.26 and that is leaving against the converter. (on the mat, no two step)

You must be registered for see images

Maybe what you read was a mis-print or something but a Porsche or Ferrari with a 1.20? LOL! NO WAY!

I can get 1.8's on regular old stock tires and a mostly stock viper. It's hard though. Like everyone else said.. even on slicks and more power 1.6's are d@mn fast and are pretty close to as low as you will realistically see with the average driver on a slicked/modified viper

I can maybe believe the Cyclone might do a sub 2.0 60'. About all they can do is holeshot. I've ridden in several of them and they launch really well, but run out of steam pretty quick.

Actually, TorantoACR, I think you are hallucinating; the new "Enzo" Ferrari has not been released or produced yet; it will be debuting soon at Geneva (I think). I this post is
