Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

got my car about 4 weeks ago with 9100 miles, drove home 1300 miles from woodhouse in NE to NJ and now have a total of 12100 miles on it. SO i guess you can say I drive my viper.

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I drive mine every sunny day and we have over 300 sunny days here :)

Yeah, but a lot of them are cold. Sometimes I "cruise" every night (40-50 miles), other times not. Bought the car for pleasure not transportation. Never take to a shopping area.....grocery cart might have my name on it. Different strokes.....you know the rest.

Bill, I have 75,000 miles on my car. I have driven it up to Detroit in the winter to meet up with the Illinois Viper club for the Detroit auto show. I love driving my car!!!!!!!1

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

9800 miles on an 02 and more coming. In fact, when I don't drive it, I miss the experience immensely (tell me when you're doing something as mundane as cruising at 3000 RPM you don't feel like you could pull the world if you could get traction!).

I live in the Washington DC area and sometimes work takes me into the "******" of underground parking garages--where I may have to leave the key with an attendant. On those days I leave the Viper home. Otherwise, rain or shine, I'm spreading the gospel.

Hey Walt! I remember seeing your car at Heffner's. Yours is definitely a daily driver! You are THE MAN when it comes to daily driving! Take care and put some more miles on her for me!

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I have a few cars so I cycle one into daily duty use every 2 weeks.

I don't drive the Snake to work though - we have a problem with break-ins in the parking lot every other week and other people there are just very disrespectful of other cars.

Also, my parking lot unfortunately happens to be a crossing spot for a lot of to and fro (kind of in the middle of a business square) so there are TONS of folks passing through the lot all the time - (and thus the reasons for the 20+ break ins over the past 2 years or so we think). I do wish I could drive the Snake to work without having to worry about it the entire time I'm AT work. :(

Like many others, my Viper is a fair weather toy for me - I sneak out about twice a week after 11pm or so for a nice low traffic cruise and then spend as much time on Saturdays soaking up some more Viper goodness.

I'll offer this in defense of the "low milage crew" - I look forward to driving the Viper on weekends like my life depended on it. :) Maybe I'm just a sucker for rewarding myself at the end of the week but it works. ;)

I picked up my Viper new from Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse mid July 2002 and drove it home following strict break in proceedure. A year and a month later it's less than 200 miles to go to hit 10,000 miles. My Viper is in a tie with my 2000 heavily modified Dodge Ram truck as being the best vehicle I've ever owned. It is easily the most fun vehicle I've ever owned.

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I remember thinking when I bought the Viper that I was NOT going to worry about racking up the mileage and lowering the resale value. And since then the Viper has been my daily driver, and I really look forward to getting behind the wheel every day.

The enjoyment is what I got the Viper for, not as an investment.

But if you think of it, the Viper IS an investment in my happiness. And it pays dividends daily.

I agree that the only way you put a lot of miles on a car is to use as a daily driver.

I drove mine the first 4 years as a daily driver. Put 25K miles on it and loved every second. Never failed me, never broke down.

According to my gas log - 52 miles per day since I took the keys. I average an oil change per 2 months. Mistress ain't no garage queen...

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I've got 24k on my '96, I traded in my '93 in '96 with 15k on it. I've been driving Vipers for over 10 years and have found that after spending a long weekend at the track, I really don't have the urge to drive the snake on the streets for a good while afterwards. Traffic laws, idiot motorists, crowded roads, etc, take so much fun out of the experience.

Driving my car to work is rather impractical for me most of the time, considering the line of work I'm in.

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

Just got mine 3 weeks ago, & I can't stay out of it!!

Every chance I get I go fire it up

It's a car, it's meant to be driven

It's made of all moving parts, the worst thing it can do is sit!! (thats how I justify it!)

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

Mine are weekend and pleasure cars.
'94 RT/10 7,800 miles
'96 GTS 14,000 miles
'02 FE GTS 1,800 miles

You can tell from this that the '96 is my first choice, probably because of the mods. In the summer my 2 sons and I will take all three out for cruises and sometimes my wife joins us in the Z06." The family that drives together thrives together".

I have a 1993 40th Anniversary ZR-1 Corvette with 3K original miles.

I have had my Viper about 6 months and added about 3K miles on it already. These cars are just nothing but fun to drive.

Nuf said.

Re: Attn: 2002 GTS G/C

Had mine for nine months now and have 10,700 Miles as of today. I used to drive it all the time but since I am now in college it is a bit harder to get to the car. I try as much as I can but not that much anymore due to this complex schudule with work and school. I sure to miss the car though.

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I bought my 94 RT/10 for the pleasure of driving it and enjoying it. Yes it's a fair weather driver, but living this far South, good driving weather lasts about 9 to 10 months a year.Fall and Spring it's ******* driving and Summer time it's turn on the AC.The car now has 36K on it and looks as good as the day it was made.I guess what I am trying to say is it's a matter or priorities ENJOYMENT or DOLLARS??? My priority is enjoying driving my car.Besides look at the price of a C3 (435hp) big block Vette $60K to $100K. Will our GenI and GenII Vipers end up like them in another 10 or 20 years???? Let's face it we Viper owners take care of our cars..if you track it,drag it, show it or just have it sit there in the nice garage...we all take care of them by getting the best we can for them be it parts to make it faster, handle, look, ride,or stop better etc.Which brings up another question...Are Vipers addictive? Only YOU can answer that one.

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

Wild Bill, great minds......I was just going to post something similar! I have several vehicles and live close to work, sometimes walking or biking, so for years I might put 6k total on all the vehicles, for the whole year. I got my 99 the first week in August with 6k on it and now its got 9500 (plus Roe sc and lots of other goodies). I want to drive it everytime I pass by the garage and any excuse will bring her out for a ride. And to all who mentioned therapy, ain't THAT the truth!!

Re: Why don\'t you drive more???

I've had my '97 GTS since this spring. Have only put on about a thousand miles but I have a number of other cars to drive as well. Viper is definitely top of heap for "go fast" days. I enjoy taking it to the track (road) more though. There always seems to be someone in front of me who wants to go slower....very frustrating (yes, there's sometimes traffic even in my neck of the woods).
I also enjoy modding it in my garage at home (at least those projects I can do).
BTW, I'm new to this forum...been monitoring it for a while though before putting my toe in. Great comraderie here.

What type of wheels do you have on your car. I do not think I have seen those before. Do you have a picture of them on your car while it is stationary?

Thanks
