Just wondering why nobody is offering a titanium exhaust system for the viper ? I have to admit im not so good in knowing and understanding the principals of metal fabrication but I know titanium is a weight saver. And well known in supras and imports world so why not viper world ?

It's probably material cost. I know when you lighten motorcycles it cost 400 to 500 per pound of weight savings.

Is that why Corvettes are so much lighter than Vipers and cost so much more, too?

Don't know about ti in exhaust, but the SRT uses titanium extensively in it's under dash structural members.
Titanium makes more sense for items mounted up high, like removeable tops, less sense for items mounted down low like exhausts.
Titanium exhausts tend to make very tinny sounds.

Paul, I believe you are thinking about magnesium in the SRT. With the dash structure and roof sections being made from magnesium die castings.

Fabrication of Ti is very difficult. In particular- custom welding.
Cost would be more then you'd pay vs. weight savings.
High grade stainless is the best you can get for exhaust.

For some reason, I thought that Corsa was looking into doing a titanium system for the SRT, I'm not sure if they are still planning to make a TI system or not.

Hey you forgot the American world......Z-06 has Ti rear exhaust.

What part, the tips?

Knowing GM, if it's any more than the tips they probably sprinkle Ti dust on the pipes and stamp them as "Titanium Exhaust."
