I would like to know if I would need the old metal heat shields from the original side-sills if I wrap them in the roe racing insulation wrapping and use just the alum. foil from behind the old metal shields or would that protect the new fiberglass side-sills from the heat buildup

Use both. Are your cats still installed? If so, don't use them. Go with Hi-flows or no cats. I have heard of the fiberglass catching fire.

Yes I have the Hi-Flow Cats in place, I was going to use the insulating backing foil from behind the shields, But the metal shields make it almost impossible to get on the double wrap insulation, the backing broad foil and the hard metal shield to fit behind the Sills.

I have them on my car. I used all of the factory shields etc. because that is what the instructions said. I have hi flow cats and you can put your hand on the covers anytime and they just feel warm. I have had them on the car for 3 years and no problems.

I've got the AF sills on my GTS and use the OE shields. The wrap is bad news. Don't insulate an exothermic reactor; the cat.
